18's vs. 17's

Hi - I currently have BBS CH wheels 18's with S03 tires size 225X40X18 and a Koni Stasis suspension(coilover) on a 2001 Audi S4. I use the car for spirited driving and track days. I am experiencing tire rub in the front wheel well housing and have chewed up two driver side housings. Should I switch to a 35 profile or use 17's with the 40 profile. What would be the handling defferences between the wheel and tire size. thanks,steve
I have raised the suspension to about 25and 3/4

u raised the car to 25.75" and it still rubs??? I run the same tire size as you and i never rub...my ride height is 25.5" in the front.

17" are perfect for track use imho.

Wheel size has been discusssed several times, and the general consenus is for 17" wheels.

I run 225/45/17 and I'm at 24.25" up front...

DTM Kreuz 10's , custom offset, but I'm not sure exactly (bought them used)... Lines right up with the fender and I have never rubbed once... with a 1/8 finger gap...
