I have been given a chance to try out this beast. All I can say is WOW! first off, and I am completely blown away with how great the car actually performs. Now that I have it I can truely say that 2.0T is truely a sleeping beast waiting to be awoken. If anyone is local in Socal and want to come check it out for themselves that's not a problem at all.

so what happens if you dont have a GIAC tuner anywhere near you and you want the kit?
If there are no tuners in your area or neighboring areas you can always send your ecu over and we can flash you, I believe turn around time is 48-72 hours.
how much will it cost to go from stock to that I wonder.
5200~5500, It all depends on what performance parts you have already. If you have an autotech fuel pump and GIAC software their is a discount from that price. This price does not include charge cooling system (intercooler) and installation. If you are completely stock and want this kit it will cost $5500.

How long did it take for the GTRS to be produced for the B6? Stop bitching about the lack of power on a new platform compared to the B6. It's not going to happen overnight

I don't think it can be called a "new platform" considering it was released 4 years ago... I know the companies want to test things and come out with quality product, but it's been a long damn time.

I agree its been a long time. I'd say 45% reason is testing...the other 55% is waiting until people are out of their warrantys. For example the B8s....they're not going to start developing one for probably another 2 years, just because everyone is probably still under warranty and don't want to spend the money only to take the chance of voiding it by upgrading the turbo. Of course, there are always the enthusiasts who will do it anyways.

That's a good call. I never thought about that. Like you said, there's always gonna be a few die-hard people that'll slap a BT kit on a brand new car, but the general population isn't going to do something that's gonna immediately void their warranty... Exhaust and suspension aren't gonna void the entire warranty (just on related parts), and chips can be hidden, but a new turbo is gonna get noticed [:p]
Quattro
08-29-2008, 10:55 PM
I dont feel it is so much the whole warranty concept, rather the difficulty to make a big turbo. From what I know(could be wrong) the b6 has the turbo not connected to the manifold or different from b7, which means you can't just slap a big turbo to the b7, as apposed to the b6 where it is different. B8 testing will take longer cause of the new engine tfsi, and if there is not much market for a bt it will be longer.
There is debate about the type of engine we have verbs a transversal that makes one harder for a bt... Not sure what I am a noob haha

HKS had a twin turbo kit for the new GTR before it even hit US shores ! [wrench]
With enough $ and support from the community it can be knocked out quickly but I don't think anyone here is quite on the income level of HKS, nor do Euro manufacturers give us the same support as the JDM tuning mecha
The fact that nobody can even hit 400awhp in an A4 is enough reason for alot of companies not to even mess with the build.
Only the true enthusiast who "drives" their cars gets excited about 20 extra ft\lbs of tq.
To most #'s mean everything. To us it's the butt dyno and having a car that starts every morning that matters [drive]

He's reffering to the fact that there is a large amount of B5 A4 1.8T running around with 400+AWHP.
GhostSquadGarage

And this thread is reffering to the fact that there's not much out for the b7.
The b5 a4 is over 12yrs old. They were still making Supras when those came out.
Imagine the advancements on the 2.0T in another 8yrs of development.
Most the B7's are still under warranty even. Not many are going to put that in jeprody for an extra 80whp.
Plus the price of a 2.0t engine compared to a older 1.8t is not even funny.

some of the b5 guys put out some serious numbers [up]
the FSI fueling system kind of makes the 2.0T unique. It is very limited on selection and a major factor in limiting power. I would say that because of this fact and that the motronic system is relatively complicated, the GT-R is not a very good comparison. Further, the GT-R engine was built by mahle powertrain, it is a monster of an engine and can handle quite a bit more abuse than factory power numbers. While the 2.0T can make some power over stock, the internals are nowhere near as good.
There are some pretty good numbers being made on the transverse apps already and they will continue to grow as the cars age and enthusiasts are willing to build the engines to make real power.

Won't happen dude. The B5 was primarily independent members pushing things in the 300whp club, while yes a few tuners have recently had a rekindled B5 love it's been up to the owners to push for this. The EVO 10 already has more development in less than 6 months than the B7 A4 has had in the last 2 years, yet alone the 4 it's been out. It's the nature of the beast. For some reason the EVO and JDM scene puts alot more into R&D and getting things out quick. While the Audi and VW community moves at a snails pace. Once the B8 chassis is out the B6 will be like the B5 and the B7 will slow pace as well I fret.
The FSI system has been a bish to deal with for the Tunning side and is only coming to speed as of the past 6 months.

The FSI system has been a bish to deal with for the Tunning side and is only coming to speed as of the past 6 months.
That's because Evo's and other like modeled cars are built with the tuners in mind. They design them TO be upgraded and cater to the mod happy people.
With most of my experience in JDM they also don't bitch about a product costing an extra $100 over a competitors either as long as it's putting out the gains and looks to surpass, unlike the Audi people, they will just pay to be happy and satisfied about a product.
They live through their cars, sacrifice food and eat Ramen for a month straight to get the mods they want next month. For that reason there's more money and purchases coming into the companies.
Ever wonder why parts are more expensive for Audi's ? That's the reason. There's less people buying and just as much overhead with R&D and testing and building, thus to make even a small profit prices have to be higher since there's FAR less buyers and they will sidestep you for a similar (even less quality) product just to save $50.
Plus they're cheaper to begin with than an A4 off the lot, which makes a pretty big difference in itself.

From what I've heard, and this is just what I've heard, turbo upgrades for other brands of cars are very similar in price to what we have to pay....between 4-6k.
GhostSquadGarage
09-20-2008, 10:54 AM
You can ask anyone. there's more to a turbo upgrade than the "kit" (turbo\mani\injectors)
Look at the rest of the associated pricing in comparison and you will see.
