Thanks to AudiWorld: B8 S4 Info (http://www.audiworld.com/news/08/b8-s4-virtual-roadtest/)
Here's something, however I never thought I'd hear: We have been told - by people who would know because they have B7 RS4's in their own personal garages - that the B8 S4 is more fun to drive than the RS4.

Thank you for this enticing info.
I am currently not impressed with the new S4. Have to wait and see how it pans out.
I will be in the market for a new car right when this comes out . . . but to be honest the 3.0TDi might be a better choice. I'm just not sure about the horsepower/torque that the 3.0 Supercharged engine will put out, and if it's worth the price premium we'll pay for the S4 above the A4. The diesel might prove to be more tuneable and a better bet in the long term as far as initial investment and fuel economy. I'd bet the B8 S4 will cost ~10k more than a 3.0TDi . . . and I'm not sure it's going to be worth it.

Another American whose probably never driven a diesel powered car yet thinks they're the end all when it comes to preformance. Why then may I ask would Audi even bother to offer petrol engines in Europe when everyone is already used to diesel? Why do upper class Euros still opt for petrol fueled cars? Even though the TDi engine is impressive, I'm afraid the 3.0TDi will lack enough horsepower for passing power on the highway. That's my biggest complaint with the 2.0T. All I need is a little more high end power and I'm happy. Now you can go ahead and do some modding, but then you risk voiding your warrenty which is easily worth 10k and mods themselves aren't cheap.

Despite some rumors to the contrary, do not expect to see Audi roll out its 7-speed DSG transmission in the B8 S4. While it remains solidly in the development queue, the 7-speed DSG is not ready for prime time at launch. Expect to see it launched a year later.
So does that mean the B8 S4 will come in 6-speed manual initially? If so, this will be very likely be the replacement for my B7 A4. 6MT is what I want anyway. [up]

I am not impressed with your need to berate me within your first sentence. There is no need for this on the boards.
I am expressing concern with the supercharged V6 in the new S4 and whether it will be enough. I am slightly disappointed with Audi's choice to go with a supercharged engine verses a turbocharged design. With Audi's knowledge of turbo design I was hoping they might go with a Variable Turbine Geometry turbocharger system on the new S4 to reduce turbo lag and increase efficiency. I am well aware of how diesel engines behave; their shortcomings and accolades. I was not making a statement in any way saying that an B8 A4 with a 3.0TDi will outperform the B8 S4. For most end users the stock 3.0TDi will provide ample power on the road, it isn't always about ultra-performance. Under most situations I would prefer a petrol engine myself, I am just trying to remain open minded.
Like I stated above . . . I will wait till the new S4 comes here and consider all the other options available at that time. The new SC V6 might prove to be an amazing design, and compliment the car perfectly. We will see.

It's all still hearsay. A number of "reputable" websites have given out copious amounts of incorrect information in regards to the next S4 (from the engine setup and power figures to the transmission), and I really do feel it's best to wait until it's officially announced/released by Audi themselves.

The B8 S4 is already in the Audi system.
The system say it will have a V6 3.0TFSI Supercharged engine with 333 hp/245kW.
I know that it can still change but i doubt it.
Audi will place the new S4 in the 335i price range to compete directly with it.
The 335i facelift would get 326 hp and a mild price rise.

I know what you're saying Anthony...and agree. I would much rather have cold hard facts from Audi - but they're being SOB's and are releasing next to nothing about the B8 S4. They haven't even "confirmed" the rumor that we're not getting the next Avant...which I'm pissed at - 1) they haven't confirmed one way or the other and 2) that they'd even consider not bringing it.
That being said, the guys over at AW seem to be relatively spot on with their "sources" usually.

Nice to hear someone else is on the same page.
But the whole Avant thing was yet more rumor and speculation hyped up on the message boards, which I'm sure is AoA's least worry. I'm simply saying, that after more than seven years of doing this, I find it's best to avoid getting wrapped up in the hype and rumors and to just wait and see. I hate seeing people get worked up, and even argue and bicker with other other, because of misinformation or the lack of it (which also after 7 years, you'd think I'd be used to [:)]).

You want to talk about bickering, check out the discussion thread on AW regarding that post. They're nuts! Here at the 'Zine, I consider it friendly banter. [:D]
