just talking with marked001 about track events. It might be a little late in the season, but we should all try and sign up for the same track event. Seems like it would be much more fun tracking with ppl you know.

In case anyone is into it, I plan on autox'g this Sunday, Oct. 3 at Giant Stadium through The M-Club. http://www.themclub.net/. It's $40 for members and $30 for non-members. You guys should come check it out.

I am sooooo down for this. Do they have beginner rounds? I've only done 2-3 autox before and my car is still completely stock. Thats all about to change this winter.

Plus Giants stadium is in my town.

they betta have a novice class, cause I have never tracked my car. I am going to Pocono on Sat. for their track event, then going to Giant Stadium on Sunday for their autoX event.

not to late.

we could go to Watkins Glen Oct. 24 (sunday) with EMRA to do time trials. I've done 1 event with EMRA, and thought it was great. I was really thinking about going to this one. Let me know if you're up for it.

hell yeah, I'm into it. What's your take on Watkins vs. Lime Rock? Both are reasonably far enough away that we could get a small group together. Nice cool weather for our turbos too! And how much are they... can't seem to find the price list.

I'm doing the TT at Pocono this weekend [:)]

i would definitely be down for a track event at lime rock. the glen might be a little too far away for me to squeeze into a weekend.

I don't know anything about either, so I'm down for which ever the "group" can agree on. I think the dates are either the 24th or 29th depending on the track. Let's keep this going.

time trial is $150, if you don't have a competitive license, like me, you have to enroll in the school for an additional $20 (which isn't bad to me)

fyi, the lime rock time trial is a Friday, Oct. 29th

the glen actually looks a little more interesting, but I'm down for either. I know that after this weekend of racing I'm gonna want to get out there more... not to mention get a big turbo, fmic, and new coilovers.

LimeRock is nice, but fairly short.

The Glen is a big boy track. Longer, huge elevation change and more technical. Very nice. I've never been up there, and would love to go. It is a far drive if you're coming back Sunday night.....especially after racing all day.

unfortunately, I can't make it for the Limerock event since I can't take off that Friday.

So that leaves Watkins Glen. If I do the Glen, I'd have to drive back Sunday.
We would have to drive out Saturday, and spend the night there. What do you think??

ok, let me check it out. If i am aroudn for the lime rock weekend, i may just do it. let me see what i get for 150 bucks, if its only a lap or two, that seems kind of steep.

with EMRA Time Trials, you have 3 sessions. (30mins each)

and then for the 4th session, you do 2 laps timed.

if you click on "Event Schedule" next to the event, if gives you the full day itinerary.

I guess that's a pretty standard amount of time on the track. Pocono gives you 4 25 min sessions, the 2 timed laps with 1 lap warm-up and 1 lap cool down.

I'm totally jazzed about getting a GTG at Glen or Lime Rock. I would guess that Lime Rock would be tough to pull together simply because it's on a Friday. So maybe we could try and work towards the Glenn.

pete... you don't need all that gear... your car is fast as it is. Just go as is, it'll be fun. Don't be a loser like me and buy a bunch of shiat you don't need right now just to get out on the track. If you have decent summer times, which I think you do, you'll be fine. As far as brakes, you have to prove that you can go fast with your driving skills to warrant the need to stop fast (that wasn't a slam, just smart). Don't worry about all that other crap

Tires i think i would definetly need though, running on 19's on a track I'd probably kill them, I have good all season BF's from the winter i think i can use.

audisnapr
09-29-2004, 07:56 AM
yeah, 19's might be a bit much... it's that whole unsprung weight thing I guess. That's why I went with 17's for the track.

ayight... lets get this thing going. We have less than a month left for registration. I'm gonna get in touch with ERMA and see what kind of spots they have left.

Thought I'd share my other little race setup thing. My buddy in cali cut these magnetic vinyls for me.

j/k.....i think you meant to say Watkins Glen, or Limerock.

Flatline:
you dont need all that. I dont know if I'd run those wheels, but you have great tires. brakes.....well, yours are almost done anyway. its up to you. Minimal, I would do is get some good pads.

don't foget people. you need helmets.

i think some clubs still allow SA95, but you're better off buying a SA2000 helmet.

actually, it looks like ERMA allows for SA95 and M95 (which is a motorcycle helmet). I'm sure they have loaners or rentals too.

this is from their website:
Must be 18 years of age, and possess a valid driver's license

Clothing for the day: long sleeve shirt, long pants, no open toe shoes. (Full race equipped driver's suit recommended)

Helmet: must meet Snell M95 or SA95 certifications. (Closed faced recommended)

I say lets try and shoot for the Glenn. I haven't heard back from ERMA yet, but I would assume since there is just a little less than a month left, we should be able to get in.

How many are serious about doing the Glenn on the 24th?

ayight guys... I did my first track event and as expected I need MORE! So who's gonna do this? Let's just pick one and see who can do it. I vote Glen on Sunday the 24th. We'll have to get a hotel the night before and drive up Sat. Come'on!
