Yeah, wasn't that fun! [rolleyes] [:p] [:D]

I guess it was centered quite far South of us, my mom lives down near Fresno and she said it shook things up pretty good and was surprised we felt it all the way up here.

This one had a weird movement to it. I started to feel a little queasy. Not sure if that's because I was reading off the monitor at the time but others experienced the same feeling. That's a new one for me. Was pretty small and slow over here (near the SJ airport).

Are you ready to rummmmmbbbbbllllleeeee?

(09-28) 10:42 PDT PARKFIELD, Calif. (AP) --

A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 has struck Central California and it was felt from Santa Ana to Sacramento, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake, which struck at 10:15 a.m. PDT, was centered nine miles south of Parkfield and 17 miles northeast of Paso Robles, scene of an earthquake that killed two people in December 2003.

An aftershock of 5.0 magnitude struck four minutes later.

Paso Robles police said there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Thousands of people from throughout the state reported feeling the quake.

"It rattled everything hanging on the walls and the chandelier was swinging. It didn't do any damage to our house. There were two shakers, one right after the other," said Ben Brown, who lives in Paso Robles.

Parkfield, located on the San Andreas fault, is known as the earthquake capital of California.

I felt it in Santa Clara. I was in class and we have desks that are connected in rows. I thought someone obnoxious was shaking their leg or something.

I was in a job interview in Thousand Oaks, and the HR lady freaked out in the middle of me talking to the panel. We all stopped and she asked if that was an earthquake. She's not from Cali, so she is not accustomed to such events, and was ready to duck under the table. No one else felt anything, but we did hear the windows rattle, and thought is was just a truck or something. Nonetheless, the lady was shook up. When I checked Yahoo News, I found out she was right. She felt it sometime around 10:15am. Kind of weird since we were about 350 plus miles from the epicenter.

I can't imagine what that is like. When you guys/gals felt it for the very first time was it kind of scary?

It's still a bit scary, no matter how many times you've been through one. You never know if it's going to get worse or stay small. Especially sucks if you're in an old building, or a multi-level one.
