I know this is a shot in the dark, but I was hoping someone would swap me my driver's side leatherette seat for a sport/race seat for this coming weekend. I have my first track day planned at Pocono and would like to be firmly held in place instead of slopping all around in my OEM seat. I would need something with a bracket for the B5 A4. Anyone?

I'm planning on buying seats, but it just won't happen before this weekend because of shipping time and availability. I tried to order one last week, but all the places with good prices were all out of stock.

Hey I'm serious.

The seats are your basic racing seats... so what if it does not have a huge name like Recaro or Sparco... but it does the same thing.

oh, in that case, sorry for the slam - LOL - I thought you were f*%king w/ me!

Don't think I want to spend the money on some cheap seats just for the weekend. I do plan on getting the Recaro Speed series seat here in the near future when they are actually in stock.

I've seen those cheapy seats all over ebay, but I have tried to stay away from them because I know that you pretty much get what you pay for.

I'll go look at Pepboys' online store and see if they show them.

not really feel'n the Pepboys' seats. They really aren't that cheap. I did find a company that makes some pretty decent looking seats w/ adjustable lumbar and custom logo stitching.

I'd seen those on ebay aswell a while back. That price is very low.

they look pretty clean from the photos... but who knows. I thought the price was very reasonable for "leather", plus my biggest complaint is lack of lumbar support, which they take care of and is standard in their seat. And as a little bonus, you could do the custom audi text or rings in the color of your choosing. They also have seat heaters as an option.

They look very similar to the Recaro Speed seats because of how deep their lower lateral support is.

I went to that website... the price there for the same seat is $499 for two. I have a feeling that $399 set is in grey only since they don't have any other seats for sale on ebay. I sent them an email to get a quote for 2 black leather w/ red audi rings.

Let me know what they say. My only reason for not getting racing seats was the fact that I would lose the heated option. For me I just can't have that. I was toyign with the thought of getting OEM heating elements and having them put into aftermarket seats.

I'll ask them about it. I don't have heated seats, so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. But I do know that on that customracingseats.com site, they have the pricing for the heated seats option. I think it starts at $80 and goes up depending on how many different temp settings you want.

Hmm, I still think I might look into getting OEM seat pads, cause I want to use the OEM switch in the dask console.

yeah, saw that, but just can't afford that kind of cash for seats. I'd be willing to spend the $400 on no name seats with custom audi logo and see how they hold up. Even if they held up for a couple years, it would be worth the money.

awesome man... I really appreciate it. I'll keep you posted should I go that route. I should be ok with the seatbelt though. I pulled some strings and have a red TOPSPIN harness on it's way to be delivered by Thursday. Right now I'm trying to dial in the seats. I may just be able to pull it off by friday. Read my following post and let me know what you guys think.

so here's the skinny on those seats.

I spoke with the guy (sorry evil, forgot to ask about the heating). The price they show on ebay is for the grey only, which I kind of assumed. He only has a few sets left of the black and won't sell them below their website price of $499 for the pair (FYI: the seats are leather on the parts where you sit - bottom and back seat cushions... the bolster and the back of the seat are synthetic). He can even have them to me in 1-2 days since he's in CT for his normal shipping price of $95 (which is pretty cheap compared to most everyone else).

The big problem is the mounting brackets. The place that supplies most of the mounting brackets throughout N. America is about 2.5 weeks behind in their shipping. I spoke with the guy at the bracket place and they will do rush orders... for a premium of course. The brackets normally run for $60/ea. He'll charge me $100/ea plus shipping of about $40 to get them here by Friday.

- Black leather/synthetic - $499/pair (w/ adjustable lumbar!)
- shipping for the seats - $95
- brackets - $200/pair
- shipping for the brackets - $40
TOTAL: $834

If I were to go through the normal order process with the bracket company, I would save $80 bringing the total down to $754 for two leather seats, but would have to wait about 2-3 weeks to get the brackets.

So, what do you guys think?

if you have to wait... dont bother with it right now.
no point having seats sit around for that long.

any other thoughts guys? I have 1 hour left this morning to make the final decision to get everything here by Friday. The bracket company needs to know by 8am PT (11am my time) in order to get a rush on making me the brackets. The seats can ship today or tomorrow and still be here by friday.

I keep staring at the seats thinking they look good, but just aren't made by a big reputable italian manufacturer. Can't make up my mind. I got the guy to come down a bit on the shipping for the seats. $59 instead of $95. Which brings the total for the 2 seat package down to $798.

I would wait and buy Quality before price... what happens if it is cheaply made.... and you come around a corner.. a bracket cracks... you end up in a wall.... not fun at all.

Just my $.02

the bracket company is the same company that manufacturers the brackets for all the major seat companies, ie: sparco, recaro, cobra, etc. That's why they are so behind because they produce so many brackets.

well, I guess we'll find out soon enough. I went ahead with the order. So I'm gonna be the ginny pig. Everything should be here by friday at the latest and all should be installed by Sat's track day. Hopefully I'll have some good news on Sunday to report, otherwise I'll have some incredible crash photos and videos.

thanks man... I'll def. shoot some photos of the seats in and out of the car. My biggest thing is that damn lumbar support. Long drives just kill me. I was hurt'n going down to and coming back from H2O. It's always been a problem since I've had the car. I'm just now deciding it's time to swap the seats.

The only other concern I have about aftermarket seats is how high they might sit in the car. With the OEM seats, you have that up and down adjustability, with these I won't. Hopefully they sit pretty low.

I'm pretty excited that these seats don't have any logos on them. Kind of over the whole "SPARCO" / "RECARO" thing. It looks pretty sporty if you have some work done to your interior, but my interior is bone stock and I'd like to keep it that way... at least for a while.
