Ok...I know this must have some simple answers since I hear ppl say it all the time. How do you define what 'stage' your car is... I always see ppl state, "Stage 2", "Stage 3,"...."Stage 100 [:D]" etc...

What is it and how do you define it?

Also another question...what is resonated vs. non-resonated exhaust? [:D]

Thank you.

Here ya go!

Stage 1 = chip
Stage 1+ = chip+ any other mods without a turbo upgrade
Stage 2 = K04
Stage 2+ = K04 with other mods
Stage 3 = BT at 270-350 chp
Stage 3+ = BT at 350-400 chp
Stage 4 = internal/head work making 400-500 chp
Stage 5 = Stand alone or making 500+ chp

'Stages' are defined differently based on the car model (B6 A4, B7 A4, B5 S4, ect). Usually stages are defined by significant increases in power, and often a turbo swap. The list above is for a B5/B6 1.8T A4. The stages go by turbo, and the (+) are for additional mods. However for B5 S4s, and B7 A4s, they jump stages without turbo upgrades. So you can be stage 2 on a stock turbo if you have the right mods. It's all pretty arbitrary, and is only really meaningful to people on the forum who know what the definitions are.

Resonated exhaust has a resonator, non resonated...does not. Resonators decrease harsh exhaust sound, drone, raspy-ness, ect. They mellow out the exhaust note to a smoother, less obnoxious tone. Sound is preference though, some like the louder non resonated exhausts, while others want a more civil tone.

yeah, you have a V8 S4 like me... I kissed "stages" out the window when I got rid of my B5 S4 and bought the B6 S4 :(

lol, wait till the supercharger info is finalized, THEN we'll cross the "stage bridge"
