B8 RS4 rumored to get a buffed up Supercharged V6! [Archive]

carmagazine" is claiming, the highly anticipated B8 RS4 is rumored to get a buffed up version of the upcoming B8 S4. It sounds like they will add bigger superchargers then the ones used in B8 S4.

History does point out at the sharing of engines between the 'S' and the 'RS' and I wouldn't be surprised if these reports do come true. I will just be a very disappointed because after looking at the specs of the upcoming RS6(5.2 V10TT), I thought that RS4 would get the same treatment, with twin turb0's being added to the existing 4.2 V8, which will produce around 450-500hp along with vast amount of torque(Above 400lb/ft). But I guess it won't be happening[>_>].

And please don't flame me, I just wanted to share this article.

Although we're all still let down by the decision of supercharging, it might not be all that bad. Only time will tell!

Yea supercharging definitely has its benefits. I'm still concerned about the lack of horsepower in the S4 though.

That was helpful and quick but can't I upload in a Post or something....Do I have to go through my gallery everytime I want to....Isn't there anyway to do that?

Just make an account on one of the free online pic hosting sites. It's free and once you get the hang of it it's easy and your pic will stay uploaded if u want to link it to other sites/forums too.

If the B8 S4's supercharged V6 is like most other S/C motors, a larger pully and reflash could easily increase the boost and provide some big gails.

With a larger supercharger, better intercooling, and possibly some valvetrain upgrades the B8 RS4 could utilitze the S/C 3.0 V6 and easily make 450hp. Remember the B7 S4/RS4 both use 4.2 V8s, but the engines are entirely different.

remember the quest for more horsepower is being slightly diminished by the necessity for manufacturers to lower fuel mileage

if they can get good HP out of a blown V6 and tuners have the ability to do smaller pulleys and software then that is still good. it may be more reliable for big HP than stock turbo's will be.

rumored by the car magazines!!! Audi & Quattro GmBH hasn't even stated that they will produce a B8 RS4 yet.

However, they have released that the B8 S4 will have a supercharged V6, but this doesn't mean that the B8 RS4 will have one.... time will only tell!

They interviewed and audi exec. They just didn't start some rumor. Car magazine is pretty reputable. Remember when the info about the B8 S4 started coming out everyone said no way it will be v6 Supercharged. Well it is. And the RS4 will be as well. it wil still have 400+ HP. It has too becuase the S4 wil have 350. So they have to make the RS sufficiently more so people will spend the extra 20k to get it. Also its not just fuel efficiency drivning down the size of the engine, its also the strict pollution standards that are coming to europe.

Yeh, that info could be right....I always heard positive things about car magazine.

E55 was amazing and still is...Anyway, I was just concerned, if they could actually pull of 450hp from a 3.0 V6.....that would be like 150hp/litre which is a tad to too high.[o_o]

I like being the fool who prefer's turbo's over Superchargers[:p].

Anyway,I will reserve my judgement, after I come to know, how the SC V6 will perform in terms of durability, reliability and real life performances. I hope it turns out to be a truely great engine[;)]

I saw a TFSI 4.0 (I dunno if its a v6 or a v8) rated at 395hp at some 'Audi's upcoming engines' list......SO that could very well the next RS4 engine because frankly I don't think they can pump 450hp out of the S4's SC 3.0 V6 for the B8 RS4.

You can squeeze a 1000+ Hp. out of a turbocharged 4 cylinder motor if you want to.
You can even squeeze 350+ Hp. out of a Naturally Aspirated 4 cylinder motor if you want to.

Squeezing 450Hp out of a V6 Supercharged motor is a CAKE WALK.

Well you can certainly wait until then but the supercharging rumors for the S4 turned out to be true. We will wait for you comments about it in 4 years or so then.

The way things are going it makes more sense to me to expect a 6 cyclnder rather than an 8. Instead of just massive horse power companies are looking to more creative ways to get good horsepower and performance while increasing fuel efficiency and lowering emmisions. To start with that means smaller engines.
