So im not really supposed to show these but what the hell. Audi was testing out the TPMS on the new A4 and passed through our dealership in Seattle for a check-up. Got some cool pics. Audi will most definitely be offering a manual on the A4. I know that was a debate for some people. And also, they are doing a single exit exhaust like this one on the 2.0T and 2.0TDI and are doing dual on the 3.2. Here are some pics. Too bad it was gray [:(]

Oh and sorry I wasn't able to get interior shots. Little hard when all you have to shoot through is a sunroof.

But it looks like the European model... the front license plate holder is for a European plate, and the speedometer looks like it's in km/h.

Hmmm.... I thought that the 2.0TDI was a bit underpowered for the B8 A4 (at least for US needs). I would really like to see the 3.0TDI show up for the North American models. It's going into the Q7. It exists in the A5 (in Europe). It would be perfect in both power and fuel efficiency for the A4.

Audi has not yet released allocation information regarding the A4 TDI at this point. It looks like they should let be letting us know later into the 09 year. As for your upcoming diesels, we are getting the Q7 and Q5 TDI's with the 3.0 liter diesel in sometime around this December. I will let you all know if we hear anything more from Audi with regards to the A4 models and the option for diesel manuals/autos.
Also, expect there to be no availability for manuals once the A4 reaches the dealerships. About 98% of dealers allocations for the US will be automatics. Special orders and requests cannot be made until later into the year after the cars release.

Yeah I agree. I kind of like it. Especially with me owning a b5 right now. My only real beef with the new one is that damn electronic parking brake! WTF happened to the good old "hand" brake! I like being connected with my car, and the whole electronic ish is crap

Thats stupid. If they want to some distinction between the 2, put chrome trimming like they did on the previous gen.

but that car has massive potential of looking sick.
i probably would still take the dolphin grey ultra sport next to it over this b8.

I'm not feelin it. And I am not saying this because I'm the owner of a B7 - I do want to replace my car and I do want to get a B8, but I think the B8 looks are a step backwards. Kinda looks like a Hyundai crashed into a buick. Pipes on one side? whatrthey thinkin?

Might as well hide the tail pipes altogether, Euro-style. That would look better with the back of the car anyway.

I just got back from my 09' ride and drive of the new A4 and I can tell you with 100% conviction that this picture is doing a total injustice to this car. This is the BEST A4 ever built. Hands down.
We drove a B7 down to the track and then gave the B8 a total and complete thrashing on road courses, autocross and around town and I will say that the only thing I don't like about it is the asymetrical exhaust. I will totally be able to deal with that though considering these 3 things alone:
10% lighter than B7
15% more fuel efficient
50+ more lbs/ft of torque
I'm telling you.....this car is sick.
PS:
That is the Eurospec version and we will get amber corners, side reflectors, color matched antenna and no blind spot mirrors. This according to Audi USA trainers and Reps.

are you sure it is 10% lighter? I read a deal in the paper about the 09's and it said that they would be a mere 88 lbs heavier....

I sure hope you're wrong about the side reflectors. The A5 doesn't have them and I haven't seen them on the A4 in pictures I've seen so far.

The A5 DOES have side reflectors. It's inside the headlight & tail light housings, just like the B6. The A4 will be the same.

A4 3.0TDI won't be here until after the Q7 TDI launch (very) early next year. One rumor I've heard is that the Q7 TDI will launch in January as a MY10. No plan for 2.0TDI in an Audi for North America for now.

Overseas spec cars get tested in US all the time, so I wouldn't bet on that as being tested for the US market.

Nah man, the TDI isn't even a go yet on the A4 for the US market. Audi still hasn't said if they plan to bring it here or not. It will be on the Q5 and Q7, but no word from Audi themselves on whether or not a TDI a4 will be released this 2009. If they do plan to release it, they have told us to expect news in late 09 and 2010.

I want to know where you all are hearing this information from. Audi is in direct contact with our dealership and has given us no information with regards to release dates and schedules of the A4 TDI. As for the "He," that would be the Audi representative from Germany who was heading the TPMS test. They were also testing it on the A5 for some reason. If you really want answers, you should talk to your dealership general manager instead of press release clips. Remember the press releases for the B8 S4 twin turbo? All I am trying to say is that our dealership has the most up to date information when it comes to incoming units into the US. We can see down the pipe-line and know whats coming several months in advance. And there, as I have said, is no mention yet from Audi, of an A4 TDI for the US market. I am not saying it wont happen, but just don't count on it being here as soon as you think.

I'm going by the official Audi of America press releases. There was never a press release about a turbo S4. As for dealerships having the information first, that's complete BS in most cases. I know that many dealerships don't know anything about upcoming cars as opposed to enthusiasts. I can't walk into an Audi dealership and get any info on the new B8, but I can find all the official info in the press releases. Dealerships don't usually pay attention to press releases. They just sell cars and hope those people never come back for service. They could care less about the enthusiast crowd unless you have a dealer who keeps up with the fan base, and those are rare.

Well this is true for other dealerships perhaps. But we are the first Audi dealership that was put in the US and I know that the majority of the employees are just enough, if not more, of your enthusiast types when it comes to Audis and VW's. Most of them own modified Audis and VW's and are on the forums all the time. I can't speak for all the dealerships. But I can tell you that the information I have given you is very reliable when it comes to release dates of the B8. Several of our employees, and I am not talking about only salepersons, travel monthly to the germany plant for training and to see the cars being built. And we love other enthusiasts. Oh, and btw, most dealerships want people to come back for service. It is where most of the money is actually made fyi.

yeah dude. It's a real chillax dealership. Not too familiar with the ones on the east coast, but over here the salepersons and service will continue to stay in contact with you to make sure everything is going well and we are always available for questions and concerns throughout the time you own the vehicle. Oh and if you didn't hear about the Leavenwurth drive that took place out here, pretty much the whole dealership took the day off to go on the drive. And then some others from the dealership went to the Audi meet south of hear on the same day. If you are heading out this way, PM me and stop by.

And the 27 more that are being built....all ready sold. And then there is a list that continues for about 7 typed pages of people waiting in line for the TDI. Its a hard game to win haha. Come by and take a look if you are in the area. Sorry that the pics were taken with the phone again. And to clarify, this IS a US-spec car haha.
Also, we just heard from Audi that plans to prepare a TDI A3 for the US instead of the A4 platform are underway. So look forward to your TDI fun in the Audi hatch [:)]
Note the lack of Bose in the new Audis. Audi announced the retirement of the Bose symphony systems because of the company choosing to expand their interests with other car manufacturers.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that this car has not been PDI'd (pre-delivery inspection) and therefore still has suspension blocks in place. If you dont know what those are its these little rubber studs that stop the springs from compressing. The ride hight should be considerably lower once those are removed.

Yes. It will be incredible. You will be able to select between comfort, dynamic, and auto just as the previous systems. However, you will be able to choose to do this for the steering rack, tranny, and individual suspension points. Basically, the cars adjustable suspension is one of the most advanced on the road. All of it can be operated on the fly via the Nav screen.
