Hello All,
Car is in the shop at the moment getting a new clutch. The mechanic told me yesterday that the Collar Bolts are frozen, and even with a six-foot cheater bar on them he was unable to get them to loosen...
Any clues as to what is going on there? I trust the mechanic, but find it odd that a simple and very large bolt could be that tight. The car has 111k miles, and the CV's and boots are OK, just know that at somepoint they will need to be replaced, and want to be able to head that one off, or perhaps have sorted now while the car is on the lift.
Any other thoughts on proper ways to help loosen them; penetrating fluid/WD40, heat, etc.
Cheers,
Steve
