Did we get the last of the Audi look? I mean the new A4 has the large grill but I can't help but think it looks like a BMW. The interior is very nice but 40K for the V6 (I'd get the 4 regardlesss) really would make me go to the 335.

Just ranting a bit b/c I like that our cars look there own part.........flame on I'm expecting it

I wont flame this one. I think I'm in the minority when I say I don't like the looks of the B8. Car has gotten too big, and its looks are too complicated.

yeah ... i don't like the looks of it either. Too long and the lines are too sleek for me. I agree that its starting to look like other cars to much and lose its identity.

But I have also heard nothing but good things about the car itself. Except for the obvious issues related to lack of hp.

I vaguely remember having this thread but thought I'd start another b/c there has been a ton of press as of late.

The reviews are great outside of a lack of hp's. I think its the line that runs along the side of the car that gets me.

Is it true the avant will only be an auto?? Oh the horror if that true.

I do think it sort of resembles a BMW. The headlights, roofline, door handles, the line on the bottom of the doors, etc. are very BMW. I think the B8 is a very good looking car. I especially like the photo of the white one on the forums hompage. I have thought the A4 has looked good from the beginning, though. I don't know what the Audi enthusiests think, but I also happen to really like the new headlight design with the LED lines on the bottom.

We all know, on some level, that we're sad our cars won't be the newest style out, and we'll do what we can to put down the new line to defend our own - don't deny it!

That being said, I don't think the overall look of the car is getting too dangerously close to BMW, but I'm not a fan of the back end. I think the new tail-light design should've been reserved for the A5; however, I guess its saving Audi shit-tons of money to use em on A4's too. The one thing making it somehwat Bimmer-ish is the new crease that runs along the side skirts just above the door seam, that curves up above the rear wheel well. I hope they rid any future designs of that type of stuff.

I want to point out something, if you look closely at the details of the front bumper on the B8. They acutally somewhat replicated and progressed upon the design of the B7 Oettinger front end, which shows thru in the thin, slotted section along the bottom edge of the grill and the wide openings on either side; its kinda like Oettinger meets S-line bumper:

Also, we all know we want those hot-ass LED headlight housings - Audi certainly does own that look now. Kiss it, BMW!

I love the front, but that's about it. The back looks like balls, and it is way to big to be an a4. For the size it seems like it should be an a6

Wow this is great Audi is moving up considering when the B7 came out people were comparing its rear lights to a civic.

The new A6 will soon look as big as an older A8. That is the thing. Cars just keep getting bigger and bigger with each new model. That is why BMW brought in the 135i. Not to hyjack, but does Audi have plans for anything like a 1 series competitor? and I don't mean the hatchback A3.

I agree that the new B8 A4 looks more like a Bimmer, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does cause it to lose some of it's originality. I'm probably alone in this one, but I HATE the LED's in the headlights. In the bumper like the A6, yeah, but not in the headlights. I also agree that the car is too damn big. I went up to Austin last Sat. to look at an A3 for friend of mine and the sales guy and I were talking about the new A4 and I told him that he was like "Yeah, but it's lighter". Yeah, so? It's still getting too large.

Yeah, they do look like a Civic's tails, but it's about the only thing I'm not a big fan of on the B7.

Here's a couple of threads on the looks of the B8 A4. Unlike most who post after looking at a couple of pics, I've seen the A4 and various A5/S5s in person and all I have to say is...you have to be smoking some pretty potent stuff if you think the B8 looks anything like a BMW.

I'm with you, except for what I pointed out in my post about the sheet-metal crease on each side running the length of the doors and rear quarter-panel. No Audi has anything like that yet, and is one of the staples of BMW design for their newer models.

Other than that, I agree that people are trying too hard to connect a Bimmer w/ the B8, and might need to put the bong down. [>_<]

I understand but I see the crease as a new car design element as opposed to a BMW design element. Not many cars have the door molding anymore and I believe the crease serves as a mud/debris guard to keep the side of the car looking cleaner in poor weather. I think it looks geat on both Audis and BMWs.

I don't think its a bad thing that we took some design cues from bmw. The b8 takes the good things from bangle and blends it with the good things from audi. Its like they took bmws design, perfected it and then made it unmistakably audi

who knows if this is true but its sort of like a mini A3
http://www.topspeed.com/cars/audi/2009-audi-a1-ar13219.html

and i don't like the trunk all that much it seems to look better on the A5 but my likeness may change after i have actually seen the car.

I also have mixed feelings about the B8. I think the front is the worst part. I don't think the LED strips fit the headlights well and I think the car looks overly feminine.

Front good. Side and back bad. Especially the Avant rear. Looks like the old Accord wagon rear to me. Not cool. [headbang]

3 series sedan is ugly and awkward. The B8 is way more beautiful and proper.
