does anyone have any clues on to what a chipped b8 is gonna be like maybe k04 b7 ? because people who have dri ven the b8 say it feels like a chipped
b7.

Based on what I've read about the B8 2.0T it doesn't surprise me that it's similar to a chipped B7. It will be interesting to see how much more the chip tuners can do with it and still keep it within reliable tolerances. Obviously they can increase the boost, etc. It would seem like they should be able to maintain the same % hp and torque gains as they have done with the B7. I was thinking A5/S5 as next Audi but now I'm really looking forward to seeing the new A4/S4 because I really do like my A4 and the new one is sounding like a pretty significant improvement on an already very good car.

Isn't this an all new 2.0T though?

If it's anything like the new VW 2.0t (transverse) then its more of a refinement.
Should be the same as the VW's though.

The changes with those are (off the top of my head)

-timing chain instead of belt
-redesigned intake camshaft
-redesigned pcv valve
-redesigned intake system
-more powerful fuel pump

Maybe some other things but those are the major improvements.

Oh and Audi's longitudinal 2.0t gets the Variable Valve Lift technology where VW doesn't. Which is why the GTI still has the same numbers with the new engine whereas Audi's get a significant increase in torque.

but if it still uses the ko3, the torque potential may be higher with VVL, but turbo will still have same limits with hp

In April Audi announced the 2009 A4 will have a 2.0T with 211 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This is a significant increase over the B7, and is likely due to both VVL and moderately increased boost. With a K03 your limitations still exist. I bet if you chip the new motor you won't get a huge increase in peak numbers over a chipped B7, however the VVL will deliver a stronger curve and healthier powerband.

No... I meant I think this is an ENTIRELY NEW MOTOR. Not the old 2.0T from the B7. The articles I read say this is a brand new block built for more power and better efficiency from the ground up.

Audi has moved to new engine management software that´s uncrackable so far. That goes to gasoline powered engines, 3.0tdi is very tunable.
I´ve got a 1.8tfsi and so far it is impossible to get it chipped/flashed. To my knowledge Audi has also denied to give codes to for example ABT and MTM. I guess emission policies are to blame there.

This is the situation in Europe, as far as I know. The first car to go to US are suspected to use "old" ecu´s that can be easily chipped/flashed. Emission policies are not that strict there yet, so they can get away with it.

So, I guess I have to do with 160 bhp... The engine is very, very nice though, plenty of torque too, so it definitely doesn´t feel slow.

Thats how I have understood it as well.
