lease is up in january...
would u guys get an s5, e92 m3, or wait for a new s4???
i realize m3 is the fastest, but stock s5 vs stock m3, the s5 looks way more exotic. i have seen it in front of valets next to cars 3-4 times the price. s4 will look similar so that would be an option too.
what would u guys get? and why?

Only a two year lease on your A4? Interesting.
I would get the M3. Performance can't be beat, and they are wild in person as well.

I would get the S5. A friend of mine was in a similar situation and ended up going on the list for the S5 just because a 2 door Audi is soooooo sexy.
btw, there is about a 6 month waiting list for it.
It depends on what you want out of the car. M3 is the better performer and would give you a lot of fun for driver schools/track days. The S5 is a great looking car, but it is bigger/heavier and simply wont give the performance or driving experience that the M will. Really depends on what you are personally looking for. My personal choice would be the M3. Another thing to consider is if you are buying or leasing. The M3 will more than likely hold it's value better than either Audi.

thats a very biased statement....the m3 is an overpriced 335.....
If that is how you feel then you also have to think the S4/RS4 are overpriced A4's.
It is a fact that the S5 is no match for the M3 performance wise, not an opinion. The S5 is more on the performance level of a 335i. I stated that if the original poster was most interested in performance then the M3 was the clear choice. I then reiterated that it was really up to what the original poster was looking to get out of the car. He asked for opinions on what we would do in his situation and I gave mine. What did you contribute?
Why don't you worry about spending more time installing some more super sweet LED UV Blacklight Interior Lights and perfecting your mydubspace webpage, toolbag.

lol toolbag....when i said the m3 is an overpriced 335 meaning that its pretty much a waste of money to buy a m3 because all you have to spend is about 2000 and you can get near m3 specs on a 335.....s4//rs4 are not overpriced A4s.....the fucking a4 is a 4 banger for christsake....the only reason i said it was a biased statement because you own BMWs and all that comes out of your mouth is how good BMWs are.....dont get me wrong i like bimmers but due to assholes like you i dont want one period.....now did you think everyone on this forum would be nice to you when you talk shit about AUDIs??? go back to your bimmer forum wtf you doing here anyways??

For $2,000 you can get the 335i close to the M3 in STRAIGHT LINE PERFORMANCE ONLY, but once again that seems to be the most important thing to you. What about a limited slip, better brakes, stiffer suspension and 8,000+ RPM V8 engine?
the only reason i said it was a biased statement because you own BMWs and all that comes out of your mouth is how good BMWs are.....dont get me wrong i like bimmers but due to assholes like you i dont want one period.....
You don't think your answer and some others couldn't also be biased based on the fact this is an Audi forum? I came here looking for info on the A4 becuase I actually like it. Especially your model, but in with the majority of good people I have run into a few douchebag, shit-heads like yourself, so I can say now that the feeling is mutual.

I'd get the M3. The new model is sick looking. [up] I'm a huge fan of the S5 as well, but it all depends on what you want out of it.

I like the M3 great car def a drivers car...if your going to track it and drive it hard then its the winner over a s5 or s4...if you like a more of a luxury coupe with great quality interior and good power thats gives you that jump to pass when needed or feel the power once in a while the S5 is the way to go...get the S4 if you want a 4 door which is easy if you have kids, or drive clients to meetings/dinners/lunches, but still gives you a great look and good power...
My choice would be the S5 - why b/c its different, i like the sporty coupe look, good power and smooth handling and I think audi's interior quality is nicer then bmws . I don't like the dash material or the hard plastic, or their leather and leatherette....it's slightly cheaper then the m3 also......
buy the m3 if its about you and you like to drive hard otherwise i'd go s5....

If you're going to say that, then at least make sure your comparison doesn't backfire. If the S4/RS4 is not an overpriced A4 because the A4 is a 4 cylinder (there is a 3.2 V6 option btw, just in case you forgot), then the M3 can't be an overpriced 335 for the same reason. The new M3 is a V8 while the 335 is an inline 6... Also, there is the 328 option which doesn't have a turbo, and that's much closer to the 3.2 for our B7s so I'd say the comparison is pretty direct...
The M3 is a legendary car for a reason... and there's a reason why, even on an Audi forum, you are seeing the majority of people picking the M3 over the S5 on this thread. It's because the new M3 is the shiz and you can't deny it, no matter how hard you try.

M3 all they way except for fuel econ then possibly the new s4, fuel economy is starting to matter, at least to me. i cant really afford a 16 mpg with a v8 and premium. 93 costs 4.38 at the local pump where i live so...thats just me.

youre going from a 2.0t into another realm of car, not to mention that they're all over $55k. so I think its a silly questions for many other reasons and the most obvious is the price difference. but you live in the OC so apparently that isnt a problem. Another being theyre three completely different cars aimed at different demographics. Now if 'I' had $60+ some odd grand to excessively spend on a sports car, I'd get a Ferrari F355 or a Porsche C4S.
There's more than enough data and professional reviews on the S5 and M3 but the S4 is rumored to have FI. Heres my ultimate advice... wait until they're all out, drive them on the same day and base your opinion on how the car feels to you.
Most people on these forums dont have that experience.....

S5 is verrry verrry hot it person, saw one on the freeway the other day and was blown away by how damn good it looked, but then i saw an m3 in white with the CF roof, and that was dead sexy. the S5 looked bigger, and it would be more of a daily car IMO than an M3, so as a few of the good opinions have said, it comes down to personal preference,
i would pick an S5.

Saw the new M3 in person. These are not opinions but facts:
The RS4 Sounds Better, Looks Better, Interior is More ergonomic and Better Looking, The RS4 matches the M3 in performance and in some cases the RS4 is even faster do to the RS4's Quattro compared to the M3's RWD.

I really hate to burst your bubble, but things like visual appearance and exhaust notes are personal opinions, not FACTS. The 0-60 times are nearly identical and the Audi is really only faster getting the power down out of low speed turns due to the Quattro system. Motor Trend compared the RS4 to the M3 and AMG C63 in their December 07 issue and said that the M3 was the driver's choice. "It has the best handling, the fastest cornering, the most responsive engine, and was the most nimble".
I think both look and sound really good. The Audi is described as having a more american V8 rumble and the BMW is more of a Formula 1, high RPM screamer. Another thing to consider is that you can get the M3 in the classic coupe body as well as the 4-door.

i just got finished reading the newest issue of car and driver that I got in the mail yesterday and they did a extensive road comparison test with the gt-r vs. 911 turbo vs. m3 coupe and this is how they placed (based on a large variety of factors).
1. m3 coupe- 220 points
2. gt-r- 206 points
3. 911 turbo- 193 points
the guys who tested them and wrote the article were just as surprised as I was when I read this but the m3 coupe has beaten (on top of those two) the rs4, c-class amg, lexus IS-F
what do you guys think?

I think that Car & Driver has been BMW biased for as long as I can remember which is why I canceled my subscription. I got tired of reading articles where one car is specced up (the BMW) and the other is not, but then they'll say that they were surprised at the amenities in that car... really Sherlock? I mean, if you pay an extra 10000 dollars to get the bluetooth and the navi and sport package and all this other stuff, then yes, it's going to have... wait for it... MORE FEATURES!!! Argh... sorry, I hate biased reporting...
OK, now that that's out of my system, I still think the new M3 coupe is amazing, but I would definitely take the new Nissan GT-R over it, simply because I dig the style, and it would be one of the most exclusive cars on the road... That's not to say that the C&D article is wrong. For the majority of people, the M3 would be the better choice. As one of my favorite TV show hosts likes to say, I think the new M3 is Biblically good [:D] (I wonder how many people know where that's from, GUYS FROM EUROPE DON'T COUNT)

well said and very understandable, i am skeptical of some of their articles/work as well however compared to the higher price tag of the 911 turbo and gt-r, the m3 does offer very comparable performance (other than torque numbers of course)

I went from a 00 A4 1.8T to an 03 M3 SMG back to an 08 A4 2.0T 6MT. The M3 is an amazing car and there isnt a day that goes by that I dont miss everything about it. The drive is never boring. Slam the gas and you'll instantly have a smile on your face. The Audis just arent as raw as the M3 when it comes to performance. I daily drove my M3 22,000 miles a year with no problem. Now...as for why i went back to the Audi....(besides the double digit poitns now on my license I need to work off)...if you are in any are where there is a chance for snow and heavy rain, the M3 just doesnt excel. I havent driven the new E92 body, but can only imagine its as bad if not worse then my old one. The M3 is great, but when it comes to snow, the Audis are unstoppable. The M3 will also attract more attention. Its really just a matter of what do you value most in your car.

It is indeed Top Gear... I love that show... watch it religiously off torrents... finalgear.com ftw [:D]. It's on a break right now but should be back soon. Anyone else a fan?
Regarding iDrive, I have personally tried it only one time, and it was on an 07 5-Series that I drove last summer while on vacation in Tampa (my friend who I stayed with, is married to a doctor, and he's a really cool guy, let me drive around his car while he wasn't working). I thought the system was fine, but then again, I'm a 25 year old who's pretty decent with computers, so to me, it was pretty straightforward. However, I can definitely understand the complaint that it's not so intuitive for those who are less electronically inclined.

I've got a buddy who owned both, and he prefers the S5, simply for the luxury of the interior.
As for my opinion, the new m3 just isnt as cool as the old one. Sure, its faster, probobly handles better too, but.. the new v8 isn't my cup of tea. Neither is the styling. The s5 on the other hand is sex on wheels. But if money isn't a HUGE factor, maybe an S6 avant? (or sedan if the avant isn't your thing). Nothing like v10 luxury power. Ultimately, the choice is yours.

I think this is the perfect lesson never to ask anybody what to do when u want to by a new car. Becuase in the end, after all the bitching and argueing and false statements and over rated opinions, the only thing that matters is what you want. So do yourself a favor, realize you wont get aywhere by asking us what you should do. Go to the dealerships, drive the cars, see which one YOU like best. Theres no wrong answer, they are all great cars and you wont be dissapointed with either of them. The M3 is sick. nobody can doubt that. The S5 is really sexy. Cant doubt that either. So theres my opinion. but who gives a fukc, go see for yourself. [rolleyes]

I've driven both the new M3 and the old M3. My dad has the E46 convertable. The newer one is def more powerful. But it feels heavier and less like a raw sports car, compared to the E46. The steering also feels disconnected in the new one. Still a beautiful car tho. And w/out a doubt you can tell the difference between it and the reg 3 series. Put an A4 next to an RS4 and tell me what you see. It's about the same. Personally, I love the way the coupe M3 looks. (New One)

S5
M3
S4
Why...S5 is 2 door, less common, sortof exotic (not really but u know what i mean). The M3 interior isn't a nice, and the 3 series is so common, that many people won't give it a second look. S4, you'd have to wait, but it will be great...if you want 4 doors. All of these cars would be plenty fast for me, and street use, so performance isn't even a factor. Interior/exterior and curb appeal are all that would really matter to me.
