The Wheel Works I go to is actually pretty good. People are knowledgeable so I trust them but is there any reason that I shouldn't go through them?

I used them in San Ramon and was happy with them.

I wouldn't do it. I had them mount and balance my volks/toyos. They messed up the first time. Had them rebalance it. Still they couldn't do it... then they admitted that they just didn't have the equipment to do it. So they suggested going to a "expert at wheels/tires/alignment" such as custom alignment.
Their alignment equipment (at least at the Mountain View location) is outdated and not as up to date as some shops like Custom Alignment.

So where did you end up taking it for alignment?

i wouldn't do it. I did it twice and both times the alignment was still messed up. This is all within a months time. I went to Pacific Tire Outlet in Milpitas and now my ride is fine...

Roger Kraus Racing in Castro Valley did my 4-wheel alignment. Very happy with their work and service.

I want to take it to DSR or like Autoplus, but I really don't have time to drop off my car and go pick it up again on a weekday. Damn.

Roger Kraus Racing goes by appointment only. Call ahead to make your appointment. No waiting at all and the service was fast. I showed up, they immediately took my car and completed the alignment in 30-35 minutes.

I'll never let someone at a chain-type wheel and tire shop touch a nice set of my wheels again. [mad]

I took it to Custom Alignment. Great shop - very knowledgeable. And they KNOW their alignment and can do things like corner balancing. They take your weight into account when doing the balancing/aligning too for c/o setups.

It's like $200 too. Dayumm it's expensive.

It is expensive compared to others, but you get what you pay for. Don't be a cheap bastard. You're not driving a Hyandai for crying out loud.

Custom alignment has charged over $200 for an alignment...I have done all my recent alignments at Roger Kraus Tires (Racing). They charge about $90-110. Brandon Kraus actually does the work..very knowledgeable racer friend of mine. IMHO, Custom is as expensive as the dealerships..(dealership rate has increased to over $135/hr..yikes)

I took Steve's recommendation and went to Roger Kraus Racing. They charged me $105 for a 4-wheel alignment on my B6 A4.
