so the check engine light is on, and i'm definetly missing some boost. i vag'd the car and got 3 codes: 17965, positive deviation (p1557), intermittent. 16891 rpm higher than expected (p0507), intermitent. 16486 MAF signal too low.(P0102)

the car is a 00, 60k miles with a GIAC chip. i replaced the DV's which seemed to help some, but still losing boost. in july i replaced the TBB with OEM.

At this point i will install SAMCO f hose and tbb. but if those don't do the trick,do you guys ave any advice for locating boost leaks??

Take your TBB off and check it. You probably overtightened it, the stock clamps are the problem. They tear the TBB, and alot faster when overtightened. Either that or you didn't get it on the whole way. Either way, those are the same codes that just about every S4 throws when the TBB goes.

They almost always tear on the bottom also. So you gotta take it off to check. Good luck, let us know what happens.

do you hear the air loss, if you do it could be a bad turbo or the same problem i have

i def hear the air loss, and now there is some oil leaking onto the exhaust near the cats. taking it in tommorow to have it looked at. i really hope its not the turbo, but if it is stage III MIGHT be in the works.

Put together one of these and do a pressure test:

AWE Pressure Tester (http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/pdf/27t_pressure_tester.pdf)

Good luck.

Oil leaking into the exhaust is a bad sign, sounds like a bad turbo.[:(]

whew!!
the cause of my concern: a bad hose on the outlet of the turbo. all the pressurized air was exiting there, even from the other turbo. there is still some oil dripping ONTO the exhaust, but that might be leftover from pre-repair.
back to happy, in a big way.
thanks boys.
