The Short Version:

Hello everyone... Just wanted to introduce myself to the community... I am the proud owner of a new (to me) 2005.5 Ocean Blue A4 2.0T Quattro, with Manual Transmission... Have been driving it for a few days so far and it is a blast. I am really loving this car... I will definitely be coming to this site quite often just to make sure on things before I do any work on the car...

Some pics I took at the dealership...

The LONG Version (Only read this if you have a few minutes to kill):

OK, first of all, I want to introduce myself to the community. The name is Steven, I'm from New York, and I just bought my first Audi. I got tired of riding around in a beat up old Civic and decided that I could actually afford a real car. So I did some research... ok, so I did a LOT of research... I had a few criteria to meet for my new car... I wanted something with AWD for our New York winters, something with 4 doors, and something with decent power and a turbo that could be upgraded at some point in time... This left me with the A4 or a WRX as my choices and I didn't care much for the interior of the Subaru (or the exterior for that matter)...

So I go to the Audi dealership (It's really unfair of them to park an RS4 Sedan, an S5, and an RS4 Cabriolet, in that order, RIGHT WHEN YOU WALK INTO THE SHOWROOM), and I tell the sales guy I want a black on black B7 A4 2.0T Quattro WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION (black WAS my favorite color on cars [more on that in a second])... "Oh, that's a hard to get combination because the black on blacks go really quick"... "oh, manual transmissions are hard to come by at this dealership, it's mostly automatics"... So he looks around for a bit. Shows me papers telling me how they had a black on black coming in but someone already had a down payment on it... WHY DID I NEED TO KNOW THAT?

So there were three manual transmission cars they had in stock. One was Brilliant Red, the second was Dolphin Gray, and the third was Ocean Blue... Red had the Bi-Xenons and the Gray did not which was a big factor for me... So I wanted to see the Ocean Blue because that was my second choice after Brilliant Black. They go to get it out but it's locked in a garage at a different location and all the sales guys had left for the night. So I say, I'm not going to make a decision until I see that car. They tell me they'll have it out for me the next day if I can make it.

The salesman calls me the next morning telling me that he's got a bit of a surprise for me. I come in and the car is sitting there in the front, and I must say, people underestimate Ocean Blue... This color is gorgeous (just my opinion)... "Why does it look lower than that A4 right next to it?" "It's got the sports suspension"... Had the rims I liked (out of the three styles of rims I had seen on A4s, these were the only ones I really liked), it had the xenons, and it was in mint condition minus some curb rash on the rims (which was fixed)...

Due to all these contributing factors, I am now the proud owner of an
Ocean Blue 2005.5 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro w/Manual Transmission

But that is not the end of the story... I picked up the car a couple of days later, and as I'm driving home from the dealership, my check engine light comes on... I am thinking to myself "what the heck, I hope I don't regret this decision"... Two seconds later, one of the cylinders starts misfiring... no good... Ten seconds later, ANOTHER cylinder starts misfiring, so I'm running on two cylinders now... I'm having a freaking heart attack... Pull over and shut the car down. Open the hood to make sure none of the spark plug wires popped loose (donno how it is with Audi's yet, but on my Honda, the wiring could just pop off. The ones in the A4 look pretty secure).

Everything was attached. So I called the dealership swearing my @$$ off and demanding that something be done about my non working car... The manager told me that they had two complaints the same day about the same thing happening, and they figured out that one of the car detailing guys was washing down the engine bays and getting water in the coils. Bring it in first thing in the morning, it's nothing serious. Quick question, is that true? I don't want to find out there's some major damage to my engine due to that incident. It did turn out to be just what he said it was when I brought it in the next morning. Just dried it out and the car has been running great ever since.

I have been reading around on the forum now for a whole, let's see... six hours... straight... Lot's of information here, and lots of knowledgeable people from what I can see... Minus that one guy with the 1000hp Mustang... And good job Phrost on the followup thread to that one =P Had me dying when certain "people" couldn't figure out it was a joke...

Oh, and sorry about the EXTRA long post, but my first post on any car forum is always a doozy because I feel I need to get my story out there =) It just makes me feel better. I took a few pictures at the dealership, but I have to take better ones either today or tomorrow... I have already swapped out my two 12" subs into the A4... The only things I plan on doing to the car at the moment are debadging it and getting it tinted, but I'm tired of cops harassing me about it every week so that second plan is still in limbo.

I'll try and post pictures but I don't see an option to attach files. I guess I must wait till that option is enabled for me. When I do, let me know what you all think of my unnecessarily long story =P

word. Welcome to the family. For pictures, load them on photobucket or something similar, then hit the little picture of the mountains where you can post a response and copy the direct link in there.

Enjoy your 05.5. The reason it looks so good is that in 05.5 they were using the European sports suspension for the initial B7 product launch. They switched in '06 I believe to a setup that sits significantly higher. I've got an 05.5 also and won't be changing suspension until these are worn. Then I will definitely add full coil-over. I'm jealous of your Ocean Blue, that is the color I really wanted. Post up some pics!

Congrats! I love the Ocean Blue A4s. Where in NYC do you live? We need to start some meets.

The handle is a relic of days gone by when I still used to live in The Bronx... I have since moved up to Rockland county, but the city is still pretty close for me...

Also, thank you everyone for the kind words... Hope I get many years of enjoyment out of this one =)
