Hey,
Has anyone out there had their ECU flashed with the MTM software? If so, how do you like it and such?
Thanks

IIRC, mtm does not flash ECUs, they actually chip them. You have to remove it from the car and send it to them.

I believe there was some discussion about this some 4 or 5 months ago, search the B7 forum and you will find it. There is someone on the boards that has had this software.

MTM generally makes absolutely top notch products. Their research and development is almost second to none in europe in that they offer fully engineered and homologated kits. The only company similar in the states would be APR. MTMs test facility is down the block from audi in ingolstadt and audi even uses the MTM test facility at times to test new audi cars we may see some day. They have about 600 grand worth of dyno vault alone in their facility. I believe they are also doing OBDII flashing as well and you have an excellent distributor in Canada.

How do you figure this? Please do explain, why is APR that much better than GIAC or REVO? GIAC is used by Audi as well. Actually in the states I think GIAC is the only software that AoA will actually support while under warranty! I'm not bashing MTM in any way, they are an incredible company as well. Tell me why you think APR is the only other comparable company here in the U.S.?
last time I checked APR has been know to sell a bunch of junk parts that prematurely go bad. sure they'll replace them for you, but why buy something that you know will have to be replaced eventually? ie. APR DV, Exhaust, Snub Mount, 1+ Lean Codes (debatable), deformed TIPs...

Read what i said. First off I never said ANYONE was BETTER. I said the only company in the states that is like MTM which has full engineering staff and engineered FULL KITS that are completely homologated is APR. APR designs full turn key kits such as turbos, investestment cast manifolds, exhausts, chip, injectors etc that are all designed and tested to work together. MTM does this as well. This requires HUGE amounts of money spent in test equipment as well. We are talking a company that not only has to test it's software, but it's hardware as well. That means even before designing some of their hardware, they are designing test benches to test their own hardware and software combinations. GIAC and Revo are software companies. THey make software. It's not to say they make bad software at all. I like Revo a lot. But they are software companies and that is why I said APR is different.
FWIW, GIAC is not recognized by AoA in any way whatsoever. Stasis has programs that THEY cover at certain dealerships. In essence, they have an agreement with that dealership that if a failure occurs due to the stasis part they will cover it. THis is true of some dealerships in the states with APR as well. AoA does not extend warranties to either of these tuners though.
cheers! Mike

first of all, Stasis is not the only company that AoA supports. My local dealer has an agreement with GIAC as well. second, you never stated anything about a design infrastructure in the post, the original question was about MTM software big guy. i don't care about the extent of what APR designs, tests, and sells themselves. the point is that most of what comes out is junk except the software. you can have the largest infrastructure and testing facilities in the world, but if there are issues with your products you're not doing a great job. try searching, see what you can find. you read other forums as well right? or are you solely arguing based upon what you've seen in the B7 forum?
pwned, my ass. IMO you can't even compare APR to MTM, they're in completely different leagues.

Is it AoA approved or dealer-dependent?

Can someone post a link or explain how GIAC software is recognized by AoA? I know about the stasis deal but this sounds like something different.

Umm, again AoA extends a warranty to NO aftermarket tuner. Find me one document suggesting such. Some DEALERSHIPS will work with a software company and that does not mean they will warrant it. In the case of stasis dealerships, stasis covers the warranty that any of their parts would be found responsible for. It's similar to how Dinan covers the BMW warranty when it comes to their parts.

You will not find such a link because it is not the case.

Again, AoA (that's Audi of America) does not extend warranty support to ANY aftermarket tuner.

Uggh, here is my original post...
"MTM generally makes absolutely top notch products. Their research and development is almost second to none in europe in that they offer fully engineered and homologated kits. The only company similar in the states would be APR."
i don't care about the extent of what APR designs, tests, and sells themselves.
Yeah, I get that. Ok, you dont like their stuff. Cool.

ok so you've made a point that AoA doesn't warranty tuners, it doesn't matter though because anyone looking to get software from the dealer is going to go to their own local dealership anyway. no one says to themselves "well my dealer covers it, but AoA doesn't so I won't get it."

the point isn't that i "don't like" APR. the fact of the matter is that they don't offer products equal to MTM, and THAT is the answer the original poster needs to hear. i'm not here to argue any other point, other than the fact that MTM is the sh*t. STaSIS is another fully integrated company as well even though they aren't based in the US, and their products are significantly better than APR as well. this is relevant info, unlike your personal opinion on my thoughts about APR.

LampyB I think you need to let this thread die. The first point you made has been proven to be wrong (chips & AoA) and without some evidence the second one (APR is junk) is just opinion. From the posts I've read since joining this forum information on APR has been overwhelmingly positive. And you need to remember that feedback tends to be more negative than positive. Just my 2 cents though...
