I've seen dyno results and it seems that you get a significent amount of HP. I wouldn't see how stock is just fine. To me that is like saying that a stock exhaust is just fine.

A new airfilter would after what i've heard give you somewhat up to 15bhp more on turbo-engines. Maby 5-8bhp on engines without turbo. And just 1-3bhp on, i don't know the english word for it, but "sucking-engines" (yeah i know, that dose'nt really "look" right)

The main thing about going to a cone filter is to keep it in the stock air box to retain some heat sheilding. In previous tests, the stock air filter has done well compared to aftermarket systems.

It can make a difference on your MAF if over-oiled. If you're stock, I don't think it'll make a difference. I think you'll get better results by just cutting a hole in the bottom of the airbox and running a stock filter....also called the darintake mod.

Do a search on AW for a Darintake mod. Heard it is the best DIY mod and works just as well, if not better, than any of the aftermarket air intake systems for the S4.

Stock. Darintake = A few holes cut in the bottom of your stock air box.
K&N/ITG = Increased probability of MAF failure with little (if any) proven HP gain.

Didn't get my car dyno'd afterwards. No HP gains but the car does seem to breathe better. The significant difference is in my MPG.

The only real way you're going to see gains from a k&n is going to a cone style filter in the stock airbox. The k&n pannel filter really doesn't do anything and just increases your risk of the maf going.

I have the AWE S-Flow (itg) and I've been happy so far. It's an easy mod. I've only had it for 2 1/2 months. I have heard that you need to check you MAF occasionally and clean it; this is something that I have not yet done.

It measures the amount of air going into the engine and adjusts the amount of fuel according to the measurement. It's not a good thing to turn off.
There really is no best, especially if you're stock or really, short of stage 3. The best idea would be the darintake mod because it's next to free and does just as good as any other option.

Don't get a K&N, if anything get an AFE...these guys are from K&N but started this company because they wanted to make filters with a lighter oiling compound, so it wouldn't have oiling issues with the MAF like a regular K&N could on cars like ours...I tossed my K&N and went with this instead.

The DarIntake isn't limited to the holes cut in the bottom of the airbox.
In addition, you retro fit the ITG filter using a 3.5 inch piece of stainless steel tube and 45 degree rubber elbow which positions the ITG filter inside the stock airbox.
I am going to dyno (in two weeks) with the EVO and then with the DarIntake installed...
I'll satisfy myself, finally, as to whether the EVO makes more power or not...
