Hello guys!
I got my new A4 a few weeks ago and though I´d share some pics. Tell me what you think!
Yeah, it´s got go lower, so co´s or springs are on the way... Now it´s on sports suspension, 20 mm lower than standard.

Tiesto - yup, I have to live in it, because that friggin´ car costs 65000 usd down here... No, just kidding.. I just fitted those wheels and two of the winter tires are on the back seat, with wheels bags of course. Wasn´t kidding about the price though [=(]
I too was amazed by the size of those mirrors, but I´m used to them by now. But they sure are huge!
The reason for choosing those wheels is basically what you guys already said: I didn´t want to go with the obvious BBS LM´s and RS4 reps. Yes, they look good, but you just see too many of them.
So I´m definitely going to keep those wheels [;)] However, I´ve been thinkin about panting the spokes white to match the car. Hmm, maybe I should do that??
And it will be lowered, but there´s not too many options yet. I´m looking into it.

Yup. Screw what everyone else is saying. It's your car that you paid for. Loving the front. painting the wheels might look sick too so yeah. Maybe ask "Good" people to photoshop it to see how it looks? Again, nice rideee.

I think there´s a very clear difference to the B7 in the way the B8 drives and handles. My previous car was a TT, but before that I had a B6. However, a good friend of mine has a B7 and I´ve driven a lot a that too.
The B7 tends to feel a bit nose-heavy, even with it´s new torque split. The front track version seems to have a strong tendency to understeer too. The overall feel of the B7 is a bit leaden, I think. Sure, it´s got plenty of grip, especially with good suspension. However, it doesn´t feel eager to change directions and you basically have to bully it a bit. IMO, it doesn´t flow that well, but more like tries to wrestle the road into submission.
The B8 is more flowing and feels nimbler. I´ve had just a few chances yet to go to b-roads, but those few times have felt very nice. Even though it´s a front track, it is willing to change directions quickly and without going off-balance. The factory fitted sports suspension is surprisingly good but you´ll definitely get better body control with co´s.
Steering feels a little heavy from the onset, but on the move it´s a good combination of feel and relaxed driving. On the b-road steering is even better. Audi moved the engine backwards a bit on the B8 and I think it was a very good decision.
I think the B8´s a big leap forward from the B7. No offence meant to you guys who have a B7! It´s a great car too, but the B8 moves the game forward.
What comes to the exhaust - I´m sure there will be aftermarket exhausts that gives you pipes on both sides, as was the case with tdi B6´s

car looks great.
wheels don't suit the new style at all though.
general rule: chrome + audi = fail.

the b8 is damn near revolutionary for audi as a machine and what it will do for the brand as far as i am concerned. the b7 was nothing but an ugly b6...but the b8, a5, and s5 are definitely showing that audi is finally stepping it up to compete with bmw on the "cache" level.

I´ll try to get some more pics in a few days.
What comes to those wheels - they´re NOT chrome. They´re polished aluminum, I´d never go with chrome wheels. I think that one should be able to tell from those pics that they are not chrome [:)].
Since so many seem to think that the wheels suck, why don´t you guys give me some better options then [;)]? But please, not "put on some rs4 reps". I think it´s boring if every A4 looks the same...

The wheels are stored at my friends place, which is about 65 km away. I´m quite sure that the oem et is 47 on 7x17 wheel.
The oem wheels are tucked quite deep in wheel arches in the A4.

I'm surprised to see such a high offset. I'm asking because I hope to use my current wheels (18x8/9" BBS RG-R) on the B8, but they have much lower offsets (ET35 up front and ET32 in back). I guess it will come down to how deep the stock wheels are tucked and how much room there is to play with.

You should be fine with those, if the center hole isn´t fixed at 57,1 mm. That´s the diameter on B7, but on B8 it´s 66,1 or 66,6 mm.
Those wheels I´m running are 8x19, et 35. They definitely don´t stick out, so you should be fine too.

Sounds like the B8 uses the same center bore size as I currently have on my Mercedes so it should be a direct swap. The BBS wheels use PFS (essentially hubcentric rings) to fit the same wheel on cars with different center bores. It would be great if I didn't even have to fuss with ordering new rings. [up]

The stock sport suspension has a nice look. In the Euro market, you get an S-line suspension that's even lower than the regular sport suspension, right?
I think it's another 10mm?
I like the lip on the rims, but I don't like the rims overall.
The rear is ok, but the matte black at the bottom looks basic simple.
The current B7 rear with the double exhaust tips looks MUCH better.

The wheels are 9x20" ET35 matte black with a white stripe all around (tires Hankook S1 Evo in 255/30/20). I would have taken 9x19" at least instead of 8x19". Also checkout if you like the front grille sourrounding painted deep black and the mirrors. Oh and additionally go for tinted windows :p Furthermore i recommend a black roof - that way it looks much lower... (check out the R8 roof shot)

MTMBerlin, actually I contacted you guys a few weeks ago[:d]
I saw those pics and had to find out which springs you are using.
I ordered a set from H&R already but ran into a problem: if I lower the car, I won´t be able to get to work... My parking space is on the second level and the car would bottom out heavily every time going in or out. Not good.
Right now there´s about 1 cm clearance and I´m on sports suspension.
Any suggestions?

Personally, I think the stock sport suspension would give the perfect height for me.
Unfortunately, looks like it won't be available separately in the U.S. ... only as part of a larger option package, whose price is still to be determined.
Do you happen to know what your sport suspension consists of? Springs? Different shocks? Sway bar(s)?

Well thats some kind of a problem °_° Then springs only or coilovers are no option for you. Probably an airride would be an option for you.

Springs will lower too much _if_ I want to go to work [:)]. CO´s will do the same thing, because I´d like to drop the car some more. And yes, airride is forbidden in Finland. Guess I´ll have to find someplace else to work [;)]

Schönen Dank, Chris. So just getting the slightly-lowered springs, which shouldn't be too expensive, would work well with the other stock components...
...even (or especially) if it turns out that Audi softens the whole suspension system -- i.e. shocks -- for our sensitive American tushies... [rolleyes]

are you sure about that? I've heard that also but I've also heard that it would be offered, I've heard a lot of mixed details concerning release date and initial offerings and pricing and what not. In the AofA press release they mentioned the 2.0T and the 3.2 although I don't recall them mentioning anything about whether only the 3.2 would be released initially or not.... can anyone confirm this?
I really want to get the B8 2.0T, but if Audi makes me wait too long I may just end up getting a bimmer.

I went to 3 different audi dealerships as i'm not new to buying cars and haggling is a must...they all told me that the 3.2 is going to come out first as the only engine option and then the 2.0T, but they didn't exactly know when. I'm going on what 3 different dealerships told me... that is all.

As far as I know it is indeed difficult with all the new ECU's. As told from MTM HQ the ECU's of the 1.8T engines can be programmed without having to use the new CANBUS technology. Software will probably be avaiable during July.

There were no rubbing issues in combination with the springs we installed although there is not pretty much space left. Remember its already 255/30 all around which is quite nice for a A4 :p
