So for the longest time, I have thought that the base price would be similar to the B7 and i have read some threads and asked people around which they thought the same. But i was just doing the "build my own b8 a4" on audi.co.uk
and found out that it is about $43k if i add little stuff to it when i converted pounds to dollars.. Is that how much that will really be in the States? because it is so ridiculous if it is. And i was watching the latest video review from one of the threads and they said release date is Jan or Feb, but they didnt say what year. Does that mean 09?? because i have always thought that it would be out Fall of 08 which i read from other members too. So if you guys knwo the answer for these questions please help. Thank you

I think the pricing will be very similar to b7. I tried converting currencies like that for the rs4 before it was out in the US and it came out to somewhere around $90k, which we know is about $20k over the MSRP. We just have to wait and see.

Ugh, for the gazillion bazillionth time, you can't do a simple currency conversion from overseas pricing to guess at US pricing. The same car in US has always been significantly cheaper.

As for availability, it's September/October for US, and already available in Europe. You were probably watching an overseas video clip.

don't go converting UK to US money, you will not find what you are looking for
Audi never does that, not from pounds, euros or other EU currencies, to USD.

I have a feeling the A4 will line up nicely with the BMW 328i sedan, the S4 will be close to the 335i and the RS4 will line up with the M3, that would make sense to me...

I want a 6 speed A4 avant in either black or grey with the brownish leather...yum.

^^Yes, that would be logical, and what i've been hoping for. Still think Audi should remain a few grand cheaper than BMW as well.

My rule of thumb is that cars here in Europe are about 1.5 times more expensive than in the U.S.

Even here in what used to be Eastern Europe -- more so, since the $ has fallen even more, than compared to the Euro.

And that's often for a European version with a smaller engine and much lower level of equipment.

On the German Audi web site, the dirt-cheapest B8 A4 is base-priced EUR 25,900, including 19% VAT. That's almost $41,000. FWD, 1.8T 160HP engine, practically stripped.

Same car here in Poland (22% VAT) comes out to over $54,000. But the exchange rate here has really been crappy.

(So why do some people here drive the way they do [headbang], when their cars cost so much?)

Yeah, European prices normally include VAT, and you do have to add state tax to U.S. prices -- but that's normally like 5 or 6%.

YES, a lot of us HOPE for that.
The problem is the A4 2.0T is priced a bit under the 328i, and the
A4 V6 is priced a bit under the 335i.
The much wanted S4 priced like a 335i would be WONDERFUL.
But, I wonder how likely. It would very likely if the A4 V6 actually came with the new turbo'd or SC'd V6 (detuned) rumored for the 2010 S4.
