The latest variation of the volume A4 model, the all-new Avant wagon, will be on display at next month’s Geneva Motor Show where it will be making its worldwide debut before going on sale in just over a month. Based on the same technology layout as the sedan, the new Avant gets the same newly developed five-link front axle and will initially be available with just five engine types, two petrol units and three diesels.

Compared to the previous model, the proportions have been reconfigured in a new, sportier design. The front overhang has been shortened, and the engine hood and the wheel base have gained considerably in length. The car measures in at 4.70m in length, almost 12cm longer than the previous model and its body is considerably more rigid but weighs 10% less thanks to the increased use of lightweight aluminum.

With up to 1,430L in volume, the latest A4 Avant has the largest luggage capacity in this segment. With the rear seats remaining standing, luggage space is reduced to just 490L.

As previously stated, the new model will be launched on the market with two petrol engines and two diesel engines that cover a range of 105kW (143hp) to 195kW (265hp). Audi’s 2.0L TDI generating 125kW (170hp) will be added later to round out the range.

Pure hotness. The roof rails look kind of interesting, like they are short and solid, I will love to see this in person, with wheels and a drop and maybe a small hatch spoiler, i think these will look incredible. AVANT FTW!

TDi equipped A4s seem to always have the single side exhaust. I'm sure the gas-powered one will outlets on both sides.

Those are Eurospec engines. North America gets the EA888 based 2.0T FSI 211hp.

Doesn't have as sporty lines as the B6. Back end slopes too early. Hood is too long. I also felt the door blades were a cool Audi only styling they should have continued with. A B6 S4 avant is still an incredible head turner for being 5 years old.

exterior wise, the s-line and non s-line look the same to me...it seems like the inside is slightly different, but I would give up the s-line package to have the nice brownish leather.

Look closer. Front is slightly different, particularly the area around the fogs. Also, there's a blade below the doors on the S-Line.

For the interior, layout is the same, but S-Line gets better front seats.

IMO the B8 isnt really cracked up to be what it is [:(] i mean hell yea its sexy and all but the engine isnt really that much better for the amount of size they added to the car. (Power:Weight) i could see this being more of the new A5 avant or A6 but i think A4 should be a little smaller because their heavy as hell for the 4cyl engine. just my $.02 but i would still get this car if i was ever offered it [:D]

Also personally B6 Avant is sexiest IMO B7 just dont cut it... no im not hating i love B7 just dont like the Avants look.

But, it doesn't look as sporty as previous A4 Avant versions, which always seemed to be "chunky" and sporty while giving the wagon utility.
This new one looks waaay too long, especially the exaggerated length in the rear with the very sloping rear window.
It's looking very much like just a....wagon, albeit a nice Audi one. [:)]

Look at the difference between b7 rs4 and b8 ...The b7 has lots of character,b8 looks so A5 to me,freaking led headlights [mad]

Hmm, I feel just the opposite. I instantly admired the look of the B8, not so for the B7, though. For the B7, beyond the headlights and large grill, there wasn't any visual improvements over the B6, and the Civic-like tail lights was the worst part.

Not fair to compare the RS4 to a stock B8. The RS cars, in general, have more visual flair than the basic and S versions. Let's see what the B8 RS4 looks like first.

But like all Audi sedan designs, they're understated and will never grab-you-by-the-collar, like other car companies. But it's that handsome design that will age gracefully. I've come to appreciate all generations of A4s over time, even the B7s [;)]

There is NO 3.2 TDI. From what I can gather, we'll get the 3.2 at launch, the 2.0T at launch or almost immediately after launch, and then in about a year get the 3.0 TDI.

I'm looking forward to trading my Range Rover Sport in for this. I was about 30 seconds away from getting a B7 Avant. Glad I am waiting a few more months for this.
