Anyone know? Are we looking at early 2008 Spring/Summer - or late toward fall/winter?

this could dictate me getting an Audi completely. I've tried searching online, but I have not seen much talk about official release dates.

No official ETA that I'm aware of. I'd place it at Fall though.

Damn it - I don't think I have the patience to wait that long.....

Looking at either getting a B7 sedan or avant - might looking at getting a CPO B7 S4 avant if I can find it in the configuration I want.

I love the B7 Avant, don't think I like the rear on the new B8 Avant - so if I do wait for a B8 it will be a sedan...

Also depends on if I get a company car or not. Not gonna get an audi and put a ton of miles on it again.

B7 S4 weighs too much, just pick up CPO B7 avant A4

weighs too much??? Any additional weight is easily made up for by the 140 horsepower difference.

If you can hold out that new interior alone should be enough!!!

AoA has been saying early fall since the car debuted last September.

Really? My local dealer said March-April. AoA had incentivized some current lease customers to keep their B7 until the B8's were available. I forget what the specifics were...

Ask your dealer when the ordering daters for 2008's end.
That will give you some idea of when the new 2009's should show up.
Once you can order a 2009 it could be 1.5-2 months away.

When I bought my 2006, ordering for a new 2006 stopped around early May, and then ordering for 2007 began.
If the 2008 year end in early May, we should see the B8 A4 by late July, early August.

That's just my guess. [:D]

I'm going to call a few of the local dealers and see what they say.

There has been rumor going around that it might be around May...but I am not exactly sure. My dad's Audi dealership is willing to let him extend his lease for a decent rate until the new B8's come out.

Ive been told August at the earliest by several dealers. I wanted to extend my lease that expires on 4-1-08. They said they only extend it 3 months (I think), and they said my extension would be up before the new version arrives.

I also was told that the first one we get will be the 3.2 and the 2.0 will follow a few months later.

I have been told by my dealership that it looks late summer early fall, but it could be earlier since Audi released the A5 early.

I just hope they come out with competitive lease rates. I looked at an A5 ($52K sticker) with $3,000 down, 10K miles per year, for 3 years was $1000 a month from Audi of America and $900 a month from a local bank.

I understand they are new and Audi is trying to made some cash, but come one. I can lease a new 335xi ($48K sticker) with $3,000 down, 15K miles per year for 3 years for $700 a month. I have read that the BMW lease rates are even lower on the sedans versus the coupes.

Audi is much more timid than BMW when it comes to valuation of their new models. Audi wants to first see how the car will do in the used market before they will commit to good lease rates, because they don't want to take in used/leased vehicles with residuals higher than what they can be sold at. I think it's a problem for Audi, because BMW WILL take a chance as they help subsidize their leases with low money factors. Thus, BMW sells 50% of it's cars through lease in the US, due to low money factors while taking a chance on setting decent residuals, even on new models.
Audi doesn't take as much risk.

When the A3 came out, the leases SUCKED. You could loan purchase an A3 for as much as or even lower than a lease purchase. That's because Audi wasn't sure how the A3 would do in the market. The A5/S5 is a new model for Audi as they haven't had this type of coupe in the US market for a long time. So, the leases won't be that great for the A5.
That's too bad because not only is the 3 series coupe lower in price to begin with, the lease rates are awesome as well.
In real dollars spent, the 3 series coupe is a MUCH better lease deal than an A5. Audi really needs to work on that issue. BMW outsells Audi because BMW doesn't mind taking a chance on it's leases as leases are 50% of their market.
You can get a fully loaded 335i lease purchase for hundreds less than even a modestly appointed A5, let alone an S5.

As far as the new A4, I think the leases will be just as good as A4's have been during their current model run. Right now the leases are much lower as Audi is selling off the last of the last model, and the prices are actually lower as well. When the B8 A4 comes, the leases will be very competitive to the 3 series as they need to be. Plus, the A4 is a known commodity as it's resale value has actually increased over the past few years. The B7 model A4 has a very good reputation and used values have gone up over the past few years. The B8 is getting great press and very positive reviews, which lends even more value to the brand and model. That bodes well for B8 A4 lease rates. They should be very good and very competitive. Actually the A5 was intended to be released earlier, got pushed back, then up again. So we'll just have to see with the new A4.

And I agree about the ridiculous lease rates. I'd love to trade my B7 in for a B8 (A5 or A4), but that won't be happening any time soon.

It's not so much a case of Audi not taking the risk. It's more a case of BMW really do hold resale values better, and therefore can afford a higher residual value. Audi is catching up in this regard, but it's still not there yet.
