So I'm posting up here to see who might be interested. He's gonna be on the North Shore. Probably only one day of biking, right Chard?

I might be down to leave Saturday but not Friday because my step-brother is getting married and I'm one of the groomsman.

Yes, I want to go riding. I JUST finished posting on the other thread. Here's the response:
My race is on Saturday so Sunday would be a better day for me to go riding. Actually, the race is only a couple hours but I'll probably be there all day to support my team.
As far as places...I remember Dave mentioning North Star. I don't know how advanced the trails are there (not so advanced in the wintertime, hehe) so I don't know if the whole group would be up to that. On the other hand, we could make good use of those chair lifts for a day of ALL DOWNHILL [:D]

So looks like a go with at least all the people from Saturday's group. Time to research some trails. Anyone who's ridden up there have any suggestions?

Quick update about Northstar:
Here's a link to their rates (http://www.skinorthstar.com/summer/mtn-biking-rates.html) for the Mountain Biking season.
Looks like it's $20 for a single ride or $33 for a multi-ride. I have no idea what the difference between the two is other than it might be 20 to go up once and 33 to go up all day long.
If you want to go but don't have bike arrangements, they rent bikes there as well. Here's a link to that address. (http://www.skinorthstar.com/summer/mtn-biking-rentals.html)
I'm going to look around for some state parks that we can maybe hit up if the idea of paying to ride isn't so appealing to everyone.

There are options. Northstar is fun, but I have a feeling it will quite crowded since it's a holiday weekend. For mtb'ing, only 3 lifts are running so the line can get backed up.
The Emigrant Gap Commemorative Trail is on the north end (near Truckee) and should be a good ride for everyone's fitness/ability level. Nothing very technical, just a lot of nature to see.
Are you all thinking of staying at a hotel/motel or doing a little camping?

i can look into motels.....i wonder where chard is staying...may be we can stay in the same hotel? i'm sure the campsites are all full, right?
emigrant gap sounds fun to me!

Im staying with my paddling club in a house somewhere up there. I didn't get to make arrangements for the place this time so I have no idea where it is other than it's in the North Shore by the Safeway.
There are a few hotels up there and a lot of motels. I bet they're a lot cheaper than South Shore since that's where most of the gambling action is at.
If Truckee is where the riding is at, there's a motel up there, but it's in the boonies. I can't remember the name of it, but I don't think you guys would want to stay there.

Dang it! I won't be able to make it to this pne. I've got a wedding to attend that weekend along with... *ahem* male "pre-wedding" activities. I already had to turn down 2 paintball days that weekend and now this! It sucks when all the activities you want to go all happen during the same weekend. Oh well... I guess everyone is trying to get one last activity in before the end of summer.
Anyway, the last time I went to Northstar was during a July 4th weekend but it wasn't too bad. It wasn't like there were traffic jams or anything like that. I found the trails to be a bit rocky and more technical compared to trails here, but still not difficult to navigate. Just don't expect to be doing 40 mph bombing runs. Need to plan a trip to Mammoth for that! [;)] [:D]

The latest according to the owner:
"Unfortunately the facility will not be open until sometime in October (we're dealing with permits and construction right now) so I wouldn't try to check the place out at this time.
We’re planning on offering two indoor fields. On certain nights the field partition will be removed, the lights will be turned off, the black lights will be turned on and the night games will commence. Oh and did I mention the glow in the dark paintballs?"

The purpose of this thread is to generate interest in a mountain biking day in the Lake Tahoe area. Please refrain from going off-topic with discussions on this thread. You are free to start a new thread to discuss your interest in paintballing. Please do so as I'm sure there would be a lot of us interested in that as well. We do invite you to contribute to this thread if you share a passion for mountain biking as well. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

If biking on Labor Day wknd gets postponed, I hope you people are able to reschedule for later in the month. Northstar's MTB season ends on Oct. 10, weather permitting. I could use more way more seat time. [rolleyes] [:D]

Hehe... I expected to get called OT on my response to Dawn but I thought that the reply would come sooner. Very eloquent, Dave! ;^D

We can have our cake and eat it too. If you can't make it to this ride, make it out to the next one. I'm sure everyone will be up for having 2 rides.
Dawn: I had my radio clipped onto my camelback strap and it fell off when I was approaching that sandy area rest stop. I bet your new holder will come in handy. I should get one of those too.

emigrant is cool.
there is a great trail in incline village.
also some cool 1/4 technical single track, 3/4 nice pretty ride rolling hills, about fire trail width near prosser dam. its off of 80,
89North, meaning a left, and near hobart mills. i try to do that like once a year. there is a nice lil lake near there (not tahoe nor donner) that you can relax and kick it at after your ride.
i would avoid N* on a holiday weekend.

Due to lack of interest (but not on my part [;)] ), we are not going to do a ride in Tahoe this weekend.
However , we do plan to do a local ride on Monday morning. The ride will probably be in the San Jose area with a 9:30 am meeting time. Saratoga Gap and Grant Ranch are a few places we've tossed around. More details will be posted as we decide on the specifics so check back here or send me an email if you want to be updated in the next day or two. Ride will be geared more towards beginner/intermediate. If you have an extra bike (small to medium) to loan out, let us know.
So far, the following have RSVP'd:
Me
Dawn
JP
Ted
Rob
Edwin
Pat (maybe but has other plans)
Theresa (maybe but has other plans)
Otherwise, have a great Labor Day weekend!
