if it's an evo 8 then he should only consider year 2005 as it got a bigger turbo and ACD (active central differential). he's good to go with the evo 9 either 06 or 07

If i were buying an Evo, I would get a brand new one for 2 reasons.

1. Evos are always modified and most of the time if its previously modded, its F-d up.
2. The new ones are gorgeous!

Before I owned my Audi I had an 05 EVO 8. I would have got an EVO 9 but they were a little out of my price range still. The 05's are nice because they come with the 10.5cm turbine wheel ( same as the EVO 9 but the EVO 9 has a the 20g compressor wheel). It also comes with the ACD. My car had a tubular equal length manifold, tubular 02 housing, 3inch down pipe, 3inch cat delete, 3inch exhaust, cone air filter, 255 fuel pump, boost restricter pill removed, and a flash.

Never had it dyno'd but was probably making anywhere from 340-380whp. It was a rocket ship, I never took it to the track but I pulled a good 2 -2.5 car lengths on a buddies EVO 8 that previously went 12.30's

The interior is pretty plain and the seats hurt my back after about an hour of driving but the handling and power was unlike anything I've ever driven. There's not much sound deadening material in the car so you experience a lot of road noise and the transfer case is pretty noisy. It really is a rally car in street form.

That said, you have to accept it for what it is. A race car.

Nothing like spending that much money on a car that has an interior cheaper than a Honda civic. Evo's look great (especially the new ones), but overall...ehhhh.

Fast/ noisy cars are awesome at first...but after a while, they're nothing but annoying. Call me old, but I prefer comfort over speed.

Evo X has better seats & better interior than the IX..... Also stay AWAY from evo IX MR's..... their 6 speeds break frequently. Stay 5 speed
