How do you disable the stupid warning message when you turn your car on? Can't you set it to just go to the map by default?

I no longer have a warning screen on my nav. I updated my software to the newest version. It now just shows warning messages when you try to enter info while driving, but it isn't safe to do that anyway. I also don't know of a way to have it go straight to the map, because it has to go to the route selection screen first so you can pick your route or select your previous route. If you leave the map on when you turn off your car then it will be just one click away when you start up with no warning screen. If you want the update you should go to navplus.us. Hope this helps.

Sounds to me that you're running an older version firmware on your rns-e. Starting with the 0150 release (2007), Audi did away with the warning on startup, added the mute function, among other improvements.
Sent you a pm.
Navteq sells the new dvd's for $199 plus shipping from their website.

I thought these updates are free by rigging it yourself (burning the latest DVDs). Please correct me if I'm wrong because I do not have RNS-e.

GO TO NAVPLUS.US and you can do it all for free. That would be pretty f'd up if we had to pay every time there was a software update. If you go to that site you can download the file quickly and burn it to a disk. Then you just pop the disk in the nav and it should update your firmware.
EDIT: I went ahead and did some research for you. Go to http://vag-tool.kicks-ass.net/Downloads.html to download the US 0200 software. You will then need to burn it as an iso image to a cd. Then you just stick it in your nav and it will update.

The links are dead, can't I just get the new NAV disc from the dealer?

Sorry about the link. I didn't check the download links. If you search or ask on navplus they should have something for you.
That file is not what you need, because it is for Europe. You need an American disk. That is also an entire disk with maps. All you really need is the firmware update. I am sure you can find a torrent for it. It should be about 7.5 MB.

You can download just the firmware upgrade and continue to run the RNS-E using your old navigation disc, but then you would be running old map data as well. There are improvements, corrections, and additions to the map data with each and every release of the navigation discs. Current North America firmware is at 0200.

The only bad thing with getting the disk is that it is really expensive and it will be out of date fairly quickly anyway. I will get one when I get back to the states, but after that I may never buy one again. I really don't like it that you have to pay so much for the disks when a lot of competitors give it to you for free. What are they going to do when they come out with the hard drive based nav. I bet you wont even be able to download it from the internet. You will probably have to pay $500 for the dealer to update your system and map data. And we still have a dummied down nav system compared to what is offered over here in Europe. I wanna talk to my car too. I love Audi, I love Audi, I love Audi. OK, all better.

I may be able to e-mail this to anyone who wants it. I will try it with Megaupload, but I have never done it before so I don't know if it will work. If you want it, PM me your e-mail and I will give it a try.

Firmware upgrades are only part of the story. Updated maps and map content are the other things to consider. It would be nice if the two were avilable separately, or at least firmware upgrades made available free of charge, but they're not. So we have other means of getting around this and getting just the firmware upgrades independent of the map upgrades.
At any rate, depending on just how old your maps are you might want to go the full disc route this time to get not only the firmware upgrades but also the upgraded maps and map content.

Do you burn the file folder and all the documents within the folder as an iso image or just the file folder? Also what program are you using to do this?
Thanks
