I picked up a used 1999.5 A4 1.8T quattro in silver just this week....
I believe it has the Sport and Coldweather packages...
I'm coming from a 2002 Acura RSX, so its quite the change for me... I got tired of the riceboy image and the harsh ride. So, I thought I'd give the A4 a shot, I've always been a fan of VWs/Audi's.
I slapped my old amp/woofer into the trunk already. I also just ordered my timing belt kit from Frisco and plan to DIY it. :D
Question... i read its common for the 1.8T 7-spoke sport rims to bend... anybody have this problem?
welcome to the gang pigpen! I hope you will keep your car clean!
the RSX was one of the cars I was looking at when buying a new car...... but the A4 was so much more classy, and AWD! You will love it in the winter!
I've never heard of the sport rims bending.
One of these days' I'll get around to putting in my system.... I've got everythign other than rear speakers...... I'm just too lazy to put them in! My old audio installer that I trust left the shop I dealt with....... I need to trust my audio installer like my Dr.!

Welcome!
I haven't heard about sport rims bending either. The 17" Celebration rims that came on the '01.5 are known to be soft though.

thanks for the welcome...
I read about the bent sport rims on audiworld:

I'm just curious, as 3 of my 4 sport rims are slightly bent. They balance on the machine, but you can see them wobble on the balancer. I'm sure the last owner didn't drive around hitting curbs, as the rims look to have little or no curbage.

Lol, is it possible to bend OEM rims? Maybe if you hit bare train-tracks at 100 [:p]

Come on buck, toss that stuff in yourself. If I could handle a project like that don't see why you can't.
Welcome to the forum pigpen.

I've done stereo's in the past, it's not that I can't - it's just that I'm lazy [:p]

I can hear a whirling sound when I'm on the highway, its pretty loud in the back, but not as noticeable in the driver seat.
Its not a wheel bearing, as those have a distinct sound.
The wheels balanced on the machine, but again, you can see them wobble on the machine.
Anybody have a set of rims I can borrow so I can see if its the wheels making noise? I wouldn't mind picking up a set of the 2000+ 2.8 Sport rims if the price is right...

There doesn't happen to be a local GTA or Canadian classified section, is there?

No, but some stuff in there is local.
Often the local stuff will come for sale in here, but its not a huge member base yet, still growing.

Ok here's a try. Does the whirling sound like wind noise? I have this slight slight problem with my drivers door. Around the upper back corner. I get a little wind noise from it at highway speeds. If I put a little inwards pressure, the seal is tighter and the noise silent.
