Tail lights...

My 2005 A6 Quattro has red LED blinkers in the tail lights... I would like to change the rear blinkers from RED to AMBER/YELLOW.

Would really appreciate your expert input as to how best to change these...

Is this car UK, EU or US spec? Did you take it with you from TX or buy it there in Britain?

Hello... my car is US spec; I have just been stationed in the UK and brought the car with me from TX. The law here requires that all cars have AMBER indicators. The dealership here doesnt seem to have a clue what to do; they have changed the rear light clusters but they still dont work properly. The brake lights are OK but the fog lights are now amber and the indicators are still RED. All help/advice/suggestions appreciated.

Tell your dealer to print out the wiring schematic for the EU rear lights. It should be in ELSA, the service software. If they have access to the NAR ELSA, they can print your existing pin-outs and then see where the differences are. I think you'll find some (minor) wiring work is required...

Why did they put red in your rear turn signals? the MOT says they have to be amber, at least when I was stationed thee a couple years ago.

Its a US spec car with red LED rear turn signals --- apparently the DOT 'approval' for Audi to do yellow/amber rear LEDs came too late for production reconfiguration, so they made them in all red. However, the "MOT" law here in the UK allows ONLY yellow/amber rear turn signals. The local Audi dealership (Sytner) has been 'working' on this for over 2 months and still no luck! We have even been in touch with Audi HQ Tech in Germany... still, no reply = no joy.

I have also purchased a set of UK spec LED tails (with the yellow turn signal) and a set of "Euro" spec tails but neither of those works properly either --- it still flashes the red part, not the yellow. Now, as the car wont pass MOT with red rear turn signals I am not allowed to drive it.

UPDATE...!!!

I found a shop in a little, tiny village named Darley (in deep North Yorkshire, UK) that had all the proper equipment/software/etc... gave him the codes needed --- and now --- I HAVE YELLOW TURN SIGNALS...!!! BOO-YAH...!!!
