Hey guys, this may be a dumb question but, given that I'll be visiting Germany for a week soon, I'm wondering if it would be possible to buy audi parts for cheaper there? My 97 a4 always needs some repairs and parts are expensive here in Canada so I was just playing with the idea of whether or not it would be worth it for me to bring some parts back with me directly from the motherland? By the way I'll be staying in Dresden, so if there are any stores or anything you guys can suggest that would be great.

I have been living in Germay since 1999. I have had my Audi for atleast 2 years. You wont have a problem finding what you need but with the Euro rate so messed up dont know how much cheaper it would be.

Depending how long you are going to be there for, I would suggest jumping on a train and going to ABT Sportsline in Kempten.... I actually bought a few things when I went and checked it out. Not to mention all the DTM cars in the showroom..

Rather long trip 7-8 hours/trip and transfer costs up to 200 euro (return ticket) [:(]
@SHEEK
What Parts(numbers?) are you looking for?

nah I'm definitely not in for a 200 euro 8 hour long trip. I'm only there for a week plus I'll be busy with things as it is and on top of that the plane ride getting there and back will be brutally long. The only specific things I'm thinking of right now are side view mirrors, maybe a shift knob, maybe some abs sensors (if they are super cheap), maybe a sport steering wheel since I have the old looking 4 spoke. I can't really think of anything in particular right now. I'm taking my car to the mechanic on friday so maybe I'll ask him if he suggests something I may need in the near future.

If you know what you are looking for, send me an PM with details (incl. those of your car) and I will try to figure out some prices, perhaps for new and/or used parts.

parts can be cheaper but VAT is killing it.
I have been here since 97 and I would have to say no, even with a VAT form (takes away the lovely 15-20 percent tax) that Service members and DOD civilians can get over here it is not cheaper. The Euro is crushing the dollar. Back in the day when the D-Mark was still around is was not bad at all, even when the Euro was 1 for almost 1 it was good. Now....No way man. You are getting about 61 cents for your dollar.
