I was down in the Monterey area over the past two days (Monday/Tuesday) playing golf. The prior weekend was the annual Concours De Elegance (sp?) at Pebble Beach which I've never attended. I believe that this year the marquee was Ferrari. Driving down on Monday I must have seen 20-30 Ferraris on the road and fueled up at the Shell station next to a Challenge Stradale which was unbelievable. Passed a few Lamborghinis on the road, then got the treat of driving next to a new Carrera GT. Saw numerous Bentleys, including their new coupe, old school Bentleys, Rolls' and many more. Damn, what an unbelievable group of cars. All the different Ferrari models was just amazing. I guess one of these days I'm actually going to have to get down there for the actual show.
Then, on the way home, I passed a Mini Cooper S that had both a BMW badge on the back, as was the BMW M badge on the back, along with the Cooper S badging. Unless they've come out with new models that have that badging, looks like the owner of that car was a BMW wannabe, even if BMW does make that car. FWIW, I would have been quite happy just having that Cooper S, don't know why he felt the need to point out who built it.
Unfortunately, I gave my car one of the worst curb rashes ever on my rear passenger rim. Not sure what I was thinking when I bumped into it, but at least I didn't bend it. [mad]

What no pics!? A camera must accompany you at all times! [;)]
For some reason I was listening to Love Lines with Adam Corrolla the other night and he was talking about how amazing the Concours was, along with Monterey in general. I really wanted to go this year, but will have to wait another year unfortunately. The grandfather of all auto shows, it truly is car heaven (or perhaps nirvana is a better word). [:D]

We did crappy on Monday, but turned it around on Tuesday. Although my partner was responsible for us qualifying in the first place, he forgot to bring his game with him to Spyglass. We finished middle of the pack, which was fine, we were just happy to be there.

Yea, I knew this was absolutely a TTIWWP thing, but you know, I was there to play golf. Although I had my camera phone with me, other than at the gas station, all other sightings pretty much were while I was driving and I'm not about to try and use my camera phone while driving. Trust me, if I had thought about the connection with the Concours and my golf boondoggle, I would have brought my digital camera with me.
I think next year Audizine should do some kind of trip to the Concours. I wonder what are the chances of Audi ever being a Marquee, probably not too good.

Yeah, I'd definitely like to do something like that. The city (and the entire surrounding area) must get absolutely swamped with people/traffic that weekend.

Hey Guys.
AS I work for the old Ferrari of Los Gatos and now is Bentley SIlicon Valley I was down there all weekend. The annual Concorso Italiano is on Friday and the the Monetery Historics Races are all weekend. On Sunday in the Concose de Elegance as you said. Normally that is it. This year, the Ferrari Club of America had their annual meet in Monterey and that is going all week long. As well, RR is celebrating the 100 year anniv. of the marque. Hence, Monterey is hopping with cars all over. I worked the event on Fri at CI and then stayed down for Sat as well. Fun times.
Oh, and they had a few Ferrari F1 cars their. One crashed Sat at Laguna and the main bulk head broke.

I've always wanted to go that car show but i heard it's like $100 a ticket. Jay Leno and other famous people bring their cars for this.

Actually, Auto Union (now essentially Audi) was the featured marque in 1999. I wonder how long you have to wait to be the featured marque again.
