I am considering swapping out the driver's side knee bolster in my US spec A4 with black interior for the Euro spec bolster with the cubby hole under the headlight switch. The part numbers I got from ETKA are:

Shelf (USA):
Kneebar: 8E1 880 301 24A
Bracket: 8E0 863 096 A

Shelf (ROW):
Tray (replaces 'Kneebar'): 8E1 863 075 C 6PS
Bracket: 8E0 863 096 A
Cap: 8E0 863 739

If these are the correct part numbers, it appears that the 'Bracket' is the same P/N, so I would need the 'Tray' and the 'Cap'. Can you verify that these are the correct part numbers to do the conversion and also give me a price for these two items? Thanks in advace.

That appears to be the correct part list, but I'm unsure about the cap. We'll check pricing for you...

Rich,

I'm also interested in this. Any pics or ETKA shots?
Thanks

The ETKA illustration doesn't really show anything. I tried searching for a picture of the B7 cubby, but couldn't come up with anything (even though I know I've seen pictures of it before on LHD ROW-spec cars). Anyways, here's a picture from the OEMpl.us site (http://www.oempl.us) of the TT cubby to give you an idea, as it is very similar:

Basically, it is just a small cubby underneath the headlight switch for sunglass or other small items. I think it would be pretty nice to have. Why Audi decided Americans wouldn't want it, I don't know, but I won't get into all that...

That is basically what it will look like, as you suggest. The reason we don't have the storage areas there is because there is a knee bolster across the lower section of the dash. When we install these, there is normally some rebar that gets ditched.

Chris, I'll post here with pricing so keep your eyes open...

So by having this you're increasing the risk for leg injury in a car accident, correct? I'll pass.

That's the assumption you would want to make, but you have to ask yourself why Audi would pass on what seems like a pretty vital safety feature on cars everywhere except the USA. My guess is that it has something to do with overly rules and regulations over here. Hell, if it's good enough for the rest of the world, it's good enough for me.

What occupies the space next to the headlight control. That is different from what I have?

That's a shot of the TT panel and cubby just to give the general idea. The TT has a different style of headlight switch, hence the slot next to the circular headlight switch hole. I couldn't find any pictures of the A4 panel, but the cubby itself looks similar to the cubby on the TT panel and the rest of the panel is the same as the normal A4 panel.

Dimensions anyone???

Like I said, I've seen pictures of the cubby before from non-U.S. members, but was unable to find them or their pictures again. Unless you can find someone to ask who has the actual cubby, it's going to be hard to get the dimensions of it, as I'm pretty sure they're not published anywhere. This is a complete guess, but from the pictures I have seen I would say that it would comfortably hold a pair of sunglasses.

Here is a link for pre-ordering: Drivers Storage Cubby (http://oempl.us/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=537) - The photo is the TT version mentioned earlier, but the goods you'll get is the right one. We are going to order a few of them for our next shipment, based on how many folks sign up ahead of time...

When will you be getting more in stock? One other thing, your site says 15 lbs. shipping weight? How can that be? Are you sure this is correct?

OEMplus.com

We'll have a few of them in about two weeks. The shipping weight we use is not what the part actually weighs, but what UPS charges us for it. The parts are an unusual shape, so we have to pay by the dimensions...

We have shipments coming in from Germany every month, so you'd just need to contact us and ask to have the cubby included on our next shipment. Or buy one. ;)

I doubt it is anymore risk....im sure the plastic will not protect you that much in either spec. and it would have to be a bad accident for that dash to come at you.
