for those who don't know yet, the drive for Aug. 21, 2004 is postponed.... here is the word from Daryl.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to send a message to inform you that the NorCal Audi
Club Mt. Hamilton drive is postponed. There are 2 main reasons:

1. San Benito Rd. just past the Fire Station (coming from Livermore)
is closed to the public due to recent fires & damage.
2. There is A LOT of gravel on the first portion of the route that I
was able to drive today. It wasn't so bad because of my ClearMask,
but I can see most of you not enjoying yourselves as you hear
numerous gravel specs pelting your Audis.

Again, there will not be a drive on Saturday, August 21, 2004. We
will reschedule for a later date once the full course route has re-
opened.

Daryl N.
NorCal Audi Club

Cool! Maybe my suspension'll be tuned and ready when the ride does happen. Hate the idea of missing a ride!

man i was sooo looking forward to this one too!!! my buddy said he and a frd just did it and it wasn't gravely at all. although i'm sure the shoulders still have a mess there. he also noted that no rds were closed too, strange.

This road sees a shoitload of traffic each weekend so conditions do tend to change quickly. Anyone who was there last year will remember that the gravel up at the top was pretty prevalent and those with 19s (Ted, this means you [;)]) should be aware that there are numerous cattleguards to cross that can be more than a bit unsettling. Also, this was the site of last year's unfortunate RSX club motorcycle accident so if the road conditions and weather are optimal, then that's one less thing to worry about.

That being said, it's a great drive and Daryl is notoriously meticulous on his recon drive so if he says to hold off, I'll always take his word for it.

When we get the all clear, I highly recommend it to everyone. Last year's Indian Summer run up and down Mt. Ham was a blast!
