Last minute notice to those of you who might be interested in a short (if you want) beginner ride in San Jose. I was talking to Piaadoll and we're thinking Fremont Older around 2:30ish. We have to start with a climb but the rest of the trails will be good for beginners. We can link up as many short loops as we want.
Anyone interested? Email me if you need more info.
Trail info here (http://content.mtbr.com/pscTrails/United,States,Trails/California-BayArea/,Fremont,Older/PRD_165259_4519crx.aspx) .

Thanks to those who were able to make it out today! That'd be Dawn, JP, Ted, and Leonard. We'll have to do more. It's good to throw in some non-food/drink GTGs in the mix...even though we ate our share afterwards! Having a GTG is cool. Having a GTG doing something fun and healthy is even better. [;)]
Let's shoot for next Sunday. Saratoga Gap!

What's the name of the trail? See if it's listed on mtbr.com under their trail review section and then link us up!
Interested.

Always up for something new. You wanna start a new thread to see who else might be up?
C'mon south bay peeps! Let's roll up to Oakland and give it a shot!
Damn, I'll be whitewater rafting this weekend but yer in my backyard so have fun. Dawn, I think this sounds like something right up yer alley...
"steep turning climbs, lots of roots, nice rock drops at the end."
Just keep saying "c'mon bike" and "big root" and you'll be fine [;)]
Seriously, if it gets too hairy, you guys can always hit up the main trails, either East Ridge or West Ridge trails. If you start at the Chabot Observatory then you can connect them both, but after the downhill section of East Ridge, it's kind of a big hump back up outta the canyon.
Happy trails!

honestly this ride is really lots of fun. its not nearly as bad as they make it out to be. the stair section is loads of fun, and as long as u pick ure lines correctly u won't have any problems and hey u could always walk it down too =).

I'll try to keep Sun open for this one...
Sorry I missed out on the last one guys. I was just toooooo tired (and too late) to make it.

Your better safe than sorry bruh... I use to be the same till I had a concussion. Felt like I was the Titanic for a week.
Hey does anyone know if a light weight full face is still being sold. Like the switch blade? I think they pulled that helmet off the market. Im just cautious about my grille all the time [:D]

only one concussion? I have had 7 in my life so far... I played a lot of hockey. [>_<]. I have thought about getting one, but I figure if i really needed one I could always just use the one for hockey, I mean it would protect better than the bike helmets and is about the same weight. I wouldn't plan on wearing a full face helmet riding a bike, unless it was some hardcore downhill shit

my friend used to ride w/o helmet until he got a ticket for it. some parks require you to have helmets or you get a ticket. i believe his was ~$100.
also he had a bad crash after he got his helmet. he was glad that he had a helmet.

Yeah, just 1 bike related and 1 because I got knocked the hell out with a golf club [=(] and it wasnt on the golf course [:D]
I dont like concussions. Roadie helmets, MTB helmets all look gay, and a full face is over kill. When I start riding again im gonna throw on a SK8er type helmet unless I can find something w/ a removable chin guard.

Anybody up for a road ride this coming Sunday morning (3/15)? I'm planning on doing the Palomares loop, starting and ending in Sunol. Here's the route that I'm planning on taking:

For some extra mileage, we could add on a side trip into Livermore:

when did helmets become uncool again? If a full face is overkill, you aren't really mountain biking.

Agreed; I actually ride with my FF always. Granted, I'm more into DH so tend to prefer the gnarlier trails. But a fall is a fall; and there's a lot that a normal helmet leaves exposed. That said, will be hitting Annadel (up in Santa Rosa, Sonoma county) some time soon. Let me know if anyone wants a tour of this great park; I know some good fairly hidden bits. [evilsmile]
