Yes, I KNOW the subject had been beaten to death but here is my question.

My car is a daily driver for now, I have no plans to do anything extreme to it in the near future and it has 2 years of Audi warranty left on it.
I was planning to pick up another ecu and chip the car.
What would be the best chip for me right now. APR GIAC?
Just want some extra punch.

I will take care of all the engine weak points I read about.

Thanks!
Marc

I personally think the best chip is GIAC. It tends to give the most power anyway. Some will argue that it is harder on the turbo's aswell. Which may very well be true. It's up to you whether you want more power or a smoother delivery, like APR.

Right now smoother power delivary would be best.

Perhaps then you'd be happier with an APR or another companies programming.

If you want something smooth that can still do well as a daily driver, then APR sounds like a good call for you. The AMS/Abt program is a little more punchy, but still does well as a daily driver. I'm running that program and you really can't tell unless I punch it. Read up, check it out, see what seems best to you, and if you can, try and go for a ride in chipped S4's so you can get an actual feel for what it'll be like.

Thank all for your input and thoughts!

I have been driving a very modified and chipped 944 Turbo for the past 10 years, I guess I just want somthingn a little more mellow.

Damn, I must be getting old![:)]

Does the GIAC or ABT chip have a quick change to stock mode like the APR chip does?

The GIAC chip does now, I believe. Actually, you don't even really "chip" your car anymore with GIAC as they've moved on to just flashing the ECU. However, I'm not sure if this is available for our cars just yet.

Abt does not have a quick change back to stock I don't think.

GIAC is the best out there, smoothness, reliability, etc.

GIAC X chip with k n filter...13.2 @103, and I can still go pick up groceries with stock like smoothness.
