I have a 1996 A4QM and I need a new drivers side tie rod end, the current one has NO boot!!! I thought it was just torn until 5 minutes ago when I jacked up the car to check it.
I'll be getting a new one on Monday. I've replaced the passenger side but not very well, it was my fist job on my Audi. I've learned alot in the year and a half since then and feel confident I can replace it correctly.
My dilema is this... I have the money to get a new tie rod no problem, I don't have the money to get yet another $600.00 alignment from Audi. So what is the most accurate way to replace the tie rod? I was thinking of taping the location of the original AND counting the turns to get it off... is this the best way or is there another way to do it so I won't need an alignment for a while?
TIA!!!
