im looking for a 2004,2005 or 2006 a8. Could you guys tell me what the major differences between the years are, interior, exterior, warranty? Which year is best out of those three? What options should i look for or are all the cars pretty much fully loaded?

thank you

The newer the better.... Audiworld.com has a model guide section that will give you the options on each.

I would try to find a 05' SWB

If your looking to get and A8 you may want to invest in a gas station in the next couple months following. :) Great car though!

If you want to do an S8 front then start with an '06 or newer. It many not look like many items are different on the pre and post face lift cars, but there really are. It can be upwards of 6 - 7k depending on the labor rate.

If you do decide to get a pre face lift car however, try to find a very late build '05 with bluetooth. This signified some other minor but desireable changes to the car.

I've had 2 2004 4.2 A8L's, a 2006 4.2 A8L and currently have a 2005 W12. The '04's had various issues from major to minor. The '06 and my '05 W12 were/are completely trouble free.

If you have the cash, just get the S8.

x2, but if you don't have that much lettuce I'd get the '06 because it's the closest to the S8. The fact that it's all aluminum might make the 04-05 conversion a little more difficult.

For the front end you're looking at about $1800 - $2000 for the parts with paint and install included.

What year is yours monizzle? My dad has an '06 L and has had absolutely no problems with his. He's a long time A8(L) owner and the '06 has been perfect. He had a 2000(I think, give or take one year) A8L and then before that a 1997(again,give or take 1) SWB A8. He had an S430 after the '00 but missed the Audi even within the first few weeks of owning it. Then when his lease was up he went for the A8L. When the lease is up on the A8L hes going big with a new S8. When the R8 convertible comes he will probably dump the SL500 he owns for one of those. He's going to try to get on a list with a dealer now so he can be one of the first when it does get announced.

We are doing a facelift on an '04 this week and can spec out all the parts you'd need to update either an early or late car. Drop us an email or IM!
