Well I have been looking for buying a B5 S4 and I have been real limited to finding a 2001.5 with an extended warranty, basically because Im scared of some of the wide-spread failures of some Audis. I saw this thing on Audi World about Audi Pure Protection that seems interesting. I wanted to know if anyone knows the price, and if it can provide the same full coverage a regular warranty would. Basically, if it was the same this could allow me to open my choices and look to buying a 2000 maybe, knowing i have protection with the Audi Pure Protection.

just called Pacific Audi (not all dealers are ready for this) and got some information. There is a lot of stuff listed and you should request the info along with pricing. Mine was faxed to me and I can barely read it. Even the best plan (platinum) excludes:

brake linings, brake drums and rotors, brake pads, clutch and components, air bags, solar devices, hinges, glass, lenses, sealed beams, trim, moldings, door handles, lock cylinders, tires, batteries, light bulbs, upholstery, paint, bright metal, freeze plugs, heater and radiator hoses, exhaust system, shocks, audio, security (non factory installed), alignments, wheel balancing, cv boots, safety restraint systems, radar detectors, appliances, near object avoidance systems, laser guided cruise control, vinyl and convertible tops

It looks like a long list, but it seems like its the same stuff thats not covered in a regular warranty (radar detectors? haha) if you get information on price and length of warranty (years/miles) post it up.

Upholstery and paint, etc. I can handle. Do you have any approximate prices from Pacific Audi?

I read about Pure Protection on Audiworld (http://www.audiworld.com/pureprotection/), but that says to "ring the Pure Protection dedicated line at 877-800-0286 to locate participating dealerships". There's nothing about it on www.audiusa.com (http://www.audiusa.com). The guy at the Pure Protection line didn't know anything about Pure Protection and suggested I call my local dealer, but my local dealer doesn't know anything about it.
