I was wondering if any of you guys have recently traded in your vehicles for an updated model of the a4/s4's? I was thinking about doing so in the near future and wanted to know how much I could possibly get from my vehicle. any suggestions?

As with any model trade-in to any dealer, you're going to get offered alot less than you would on a private sale.

Edmunds.com is a great source for "true market pricing" in your area.

Expect the dealer to offer you somewhere between the wholesale value and trade in value of your car.

The only way you're going to get a decent trade-in deal is if your car could be easily CPO'd and that particular dealer direly needs CPO inventory of your exact car.

So, if you want to get the most money out of the deal and are willing to do the work (and deal with the headache), sell your car privately.

If convenience is more important to you, trade it in and get the best OVERALL deal you can. You'll be disappointed in the actual dollar value you get from your trade-in, but you shouldn't be surprised.

Too bad the B8 isn't coming out until Fall of 2008 or it would definitely be on top of my list for the next car. Replacing my Subaru Outback XT
