View Full Version : How to tell a Fake b6 S4

This idiot who works across from the gym I go to apparently has a new "S4". It's got the body kit, mirrors, etc. The rims aren't there, but I can't tell if they are aftermarket or just audi rims.
The thing that sets an alarm off to me, is that the //S4 symbol is placed up where the 2.8/1.8 badges used to be on the B5's. I am talking upper right part of the trunk lid.
I am dying to call this kid out, help

Look for the polished window trim. S4's come with black chrome trim around the windows, while the A4's don't. If it's an A4 1.8T, it'll have black rubber trim around the windows. If it's a 2.8, it'll have polished chrome. Sneak a peek at the interior if yuo can, too, that should be a dead giveaway.

the b5 euro version has the badge up where its on the 99< b5 a4s I believe.

look for the recaros on the inside, and at the brake calipers. although he could have replaced the calipers. if you can see inside real well and its a manual look for the 6th gear on the shifter. hmmmm... listen to it drive away, the 4.2 has a very distintive growl. i will try and think of some other differences.

i cant remember but i thought the b6 s4 did have the chrome trim. kinda looks that way in this pic.

Look at his front brakes. If they are small, should be an A4. The B6 S4s come with 13.5" brakes or close to it. Can't remember off the top of my head right now.

I gotta check, but it might be missing the front badge. I just can't think of a reason why the rear badge is not only on the wrong side...but in the wrong spot on the wrong side

check the interior guages, and stearing wheel badges.

On the B5 platform there were plenty of ppl that got the S4 trims on their A4. Heck, few S4 folks got the RS4 trims. Who cares man....life is too short for this crap!
Instead, if you do meet him, just say 'nice ride'...and everyone is happy.

you ARE a poser if you put the badges on. simple as that! dont front like you got something if you dont really have it. sorry trim is one thing and thats totally cool but not the badges thats ****ing gay! I would hope to get flamed for putting RS4 badges on my S4. please shoot me in the head if i ever do something so freaking stupid!!!

Coming from an E36 M3, I have dealt time and time again with asshole posers who go around lying to every tom dick harry and sally about their cars.
Indica, I agree with you. Trim is fine, there is nothing wrong with making your car look better...or more like the better model. Its a whole different ballgame when you re-badge the car incorrectly. If you wanna be so damn tricky, just debadge the whole thing.
It's just annoying, and shame on you for thinking its ok.

I saw a car in DC. that had (b6) s4 badge. Looked at it small muffler, no door wings, chrome headlights, a4 stock wheels it just hurt my feeling seeing this car.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the badges just decoration? I mean, I do understand the annoyance with people prentending to be what they aren't, but do you have your car to impress people, or to enjoy your car?
Personally, I have enjoyed every car I ever owned, and while i may laugh at, and have very little respect for every little 318i with M3 badgework, I certainly don't feel the need to "call anyone out" - after all, I was a teenager once, too.
End of rant. Feel free to begin the process of analyzing my number of posts, speculating about what I do (or don't) drive, and my sexual preference now.

Just go up to him and ask him about his car. When he tells you that it's a B6 S4 ask for a ride and to check out what he has under the hood. Then you'll know for sure if it is or isn't.

I love all Audi badges and one of the things I got while waiting for my piano black trims was an RS badge from VagParts.
I have the badge on the black shiny trim and I love it. It's on the inside 'cause it's only for me and no one else [:D]
I did't want a RS4 badge of course but went for the very next best thing [:D]
And I don't consider myself a Poser. I simply just love my car.
