View Full Version : S5 Lease rates?

Hi Guys,
OK, prices have been released for the S5 so I went to the local Audi dealership and for a basic S5 with 2K down, 36 months, etc. he quoted me a lease payment of about $1,200 per month!!! This struck me as outrageous for a car in the low 50K range.
I then called another Audi dealership and he checked, called me back and stated lease figures (money factor, residual rates, etc.) don't even exist as yet for the S5.
So, does anyone know if Audi has lease figures out there as yet and, more importantly, what would be a decent lease payment for a car in the low 5K range?
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

honestly the lease rates on the a5/s5 are gonna be shitty, low production run and a brand new car, this isnt a car u lease, audi and their dealers is going to wanna see the car purchased

Exactly right. Lease rates are going to be outrageous. You'll likely find it cheaper to get a regular car loan through a low interest bank (credit union). Whatever money factor they give you, simply multiply it by 2400 to get the interest rate. I figure it will be between 7 and 8 percent. For comparison, many credit unions are at 5.49% right now. The good thing is that the Fed will cut the interest rate slightly tomorrow so it may be slightly better by the time that we do the paperwork.

Leasing a M5 is $775/month for 24 months with $3500 down payment. I know it's totally different car, but if you want a performance and a comfy car, it's not a bad idea.

Silververtu,
An M5 for $775/month with 3K down? Wow. Where can I find that? I checked the BMWUSA website and their calcualtor generated $1,475/ month.
Is the $775/month a national program or is it being offered at a dealership in your area?
I'd be interested but I guess I can't handle the "Bangleized" BMW's. That's the primary reason I'm getting out of the BMW line. Still, it's an intriguing possibility that I'll at least look at once I get your information.
Thanks a lot!

Is that a salvaged M5? I know BMW leases are generally very good but the M5 is a base $82k car without options. That's the same price range as a 335 Coupe that I priced out recently.

Lease rates fluctuate and it really comes down to the dealers willingness to make a deal with you. I was quoted 500 a month with only drive off down (about 2.5k) for a brand new B7 S4 DTM package with a msrp of 56k, and a 36 month lease. Great deal but leasing doesn't make sense for me.

Lease rates do fluctuate. If you want the best price available you should know the dealer can do better than the website lease specials. Its up to them whether they will want to give it to you for close to no profit on their end so I would wait it out. For a car like the S5 though, unless it's been sitting on a dealer's lot for a while I don't think you're gonna have much room to haggle. Wait a year for all the buzz to where off, or just buy it.

why would you want your dealer to not make a profit ?

My thought exactly. Zero profit for dealer = no more Audi dealer.
In the end, lease rates are determined by the money factor (rate), purchase price of the car, term, and residual. We know that the purchase price will be close to MSRP, and the money factor will not be subsidized like some of the Audi specials currently on the website. Lease prices will easily be in the 900 range at the start. In 6 months that may or may not be different but nobody should expect the price to drop in half to 499mo either. It's just not going to happen.

I think it's the dealership offered in my areas. The BMW dealer that offered me $775/month (end of August) had more than 5 M5 sitting in the lot, excluding the used ones. There is another BMW dealer in my area was doing a $995/month with $3.5k down for 36 months (early July). Maybe they are having a price competition, I don't know and I don't really care since I don't like M5 at all, but it's worth to drive it once. [:p]

that's the recent basic deal, and that's without any negotiating. I was already told i could do it for zero down (friend at a dealership) and 500 a month. For the record, my dad is paying 800 a month for a fully loaded A8 with ZERO down.

Dealers can sell you a car to close to no profit on their end. Say maybe they make $100, that's nada. They might want to get rid of one by the end of the month to meet a certain quota. Remember they can always get another car on order. There's also pressure if you let them know you're checking other dealerships. In their minds they figure, if we don't sell him a car for this price someone else might be willing to do it, and seriously....they can just order another car. Unless that car is rare or in high demand, think R32. I've worked in the car bussiness for Audi. Livermore Subaru made close to no money from me when I got the forrester, but I had to call 6 dealerships and have them work it out. Did it while I was driving using my Iphone to check the Subie dealer website phone #s and touch the number and boom 20min back and forth with sales managers had someone who took care of me. I love my iphone! I never even test drove the car I just got it because I needed a beater. MSRP 25,900 got it for 21,500 out the door tax and all! Obviously they can't do this for everyone and the sales manager was rationalizing to himself "yea we got a good amount of these cars."

Don't stress on lease rates right now. Audi has not yet even shown the dealers any rates or programs so worrying about it is pointless.

Impossible, One of my buddies is a manager at a very large BMW store and just screwing around one day taking every ounce of profit out of the deal, the payment was still over $1300. Base price is somewhere in the 80's I think, standard rates will only apply and the residual will be good, but not 80% good.

If you're throwing paid off trades into the mix then yeah, you wouldn't have to put anything down to get at 500 a month as long as your car is worth enough money. 500/mo and zero down period is what you can get a good deal on a 3.2 non S-line A4 for if you take out every ounce of profit. Depending on the year of your dad's A8, that may or may not be possible. At current lease rates, to put nothing down on an A8L loaded, you're looking at 1600-1800 per month. I don't think a dealer is going to lose 30 grand on a new A8 so please elaborate.

I asked my mom what she leases her 07' Lexus 350 for.........(I'm 26 and was wandering cause I wanted a IS350), she put down $5200 and some change, and still pays $598 a month. She has A1 credit, it's also a 2 year lease. I thought that was high, so I the end I decided not to get a Lexus for my wife.

You pay for it up front or you pay for it over the duration of the term, paying more in tax because of the higher amount financed, so I don't really see how this could be anything but beneficial. It brought the payment from $815/mo. to $598/mo.
BTW, 97a4quattro, which model lexus did your mom purchase?

FYI, NEVER buy a vehicle based solely on the monthly payment. You're gonna get it up the tailpipe every time. At $1200 per month, you're probably paying 20% or more over msrp for that car!

Honestly you can get some sweet deals on cars for cheap if you lease. I just got rid of my bmw 645 that I paid 799 before tax with $3000 down on a 24 month term. the current specials at the bmw dealership near my house are: 328 sedan $219, 528 $369, 750li $879 per month all 24 months with $3000 down.

It's a 07' Lexus ES350.......The money she put down just makes the payment lower, it's just less you have to pay over the lease.(Like 2003WhiteSVT said) She had a 05' ES330 before, and paid more a month. She bought out the lease at the end and sold the car and made money. Those cars hold a book value very well, So do most Bimmers. It's not a top of line LS450, but it is a nice car.
