Let's hear days, times, and suggestions on meeting spots.

I had a great time when we all met at Midori's a few weeks back. It's got a nice big room we can have to ourselves plus the parking is there. Only problem is that it's not centrally located.

I'm open for suggestions. Somewhere with a nice large private room would be ideal.

Let's hear it...

Its only for those that participated in the show...right???

how many people are we expecting? 15 to 20? 20+?

here my are my suggestions:

pyramid - emeryville - i think they have a seperate room
le cheval - oakland - great food, full bar - lots of parking - each guy must take the "snake shot"
gordon biersche - san francisco - free underground parking
pasta pomodoro - union street, san francisco (they have an upstairs dining area we can reserve, but parking sucks, food is cheaper than reasonably priced)

i'll think of others as they come to mind, but i need my first cup of coffee.

Hows about Steelhead brew-pub in Burlingame? Its big enough and close to Karting! [:D]

how about nola's palo alto - we can probably reserve that one room upstairs - i've been to a dinner there before and we were like at least 20 people. we can even preselect the dinner menu beforehand to like a choice of 2 salads or soups, 3 or 4 entrees and dessert...

good morning martin!!

i had a random thought today - how were you able to drive your three children out for that photoshoot in your sig?

[:D]

Yes, for those that were in the car show that Sunday, and helped AZ land the group participation award. Of course I'd love to have it open to all, but we have to make sure the prize money gets spent on those that helped win it. [:)]

Palo Alto or even Burlingame would be good, nothing too far North preferably. Somewhat mid way in-between the North and South Bays would be best.

I conned two car buddies into driving my cars to and from the shoot. The whole thing took about an hour to do that way. I was originally trying to get the shoot done at Fort point, but my buddies arrived late and the place was crowded. Tried to get a photo with the GG bridge in the background, but by then the lighting was all wrong. Best pics ended up being in front of alcatraz just cuz the lighting was right.

How bout Miyakes in Palo Alto?

07-26-2004, 11:51 AM
No Miyakes! That place very bad, very bad!!! hehe

Its gotta be a place with good eats and full bar at our disposal. My vote would either be for Nola's in PA, Gordon Biersch in PA or SF, or Steelhead in Burlingame. If we can do it this week or Sat night, I'd be down.
I'll be out of town all next week so if you decide to do it next week, I'm assed out. Plus Edwin and some of the other guys will be out of town for the 1.8T challenge.

PA is not centrally located between "North and South Bay" I think that SF is appropriate according to the map. Pyramid has a great private room, as well as a private area upstairs. The autoxers all liked it and they handled a big crowd with no problem. Parking is semi enclosed and ample, especially during the week.

Gordon Biersch in SF also has a nice big upstairs dining room and they've never had a problem with a large group. There's also plenty of street parking as long as there's no Giants game.

Thirsty Bear also has a great private area upstairs with its own pool table. I dig the food too since its tapas its very condusive to crowds grazing.

Hooters SF has a nice private area which I reserved for the very first Hooters' meet.

Everett & Jone's in Jack London Square is big and could handle the crowd. So could Hahn's Habachi in JLS.

All of these require advance notice so don't drop this at the last minute and expect to get a table.

I wouldn't recommend heading into the Marina district as parking is always a nightmare.

First, pick a day. Last week we were talking about this Wednesday, but let's push it out to next week to allow set up with the restaurant.

SO....here's what we've got:

Who: AZers from ALMS/Mazdasports Extreme carshow

When: Wednesday the 4th of August @ 8:00pm

Where: TBA

You can take my spot john, seeing as how you help me out with my car anyways.

Plus I won't be able to make it to this GTG. Will be in MN from the sounds of it.

I'm down for this week. Like I said, anywhere that can accommodate a large party and has decent food and a bar. Doesn't have to be facy-schmancy. We're just Audi folk, yo!

OK PA isn't centrally located but damn since when was SF? Hahaha... Doesn't matter where it is, so long as it's easy to find and has ample parking with a private room.

Where's "Car Show Ken's" input.?.?.?

OK since theres gonna be a bunch of people that arent gonna be in town next week.....lets do it this Thursday or Friday.
So lets start voting

First Vote Thursday or Friday

Second Vote Miyakes , Nola's, Steelhead or D&B.

Start casting your votes guys![;)]

As for my vote....I'll go with whatever the majority votes.

Thursday at Nolas. I have a wedding to go to Sat. morning so the hangover from Friday wouldn't look too nice.

damn, all these dates and locations, how about we all party in LA on Aug 4th?? [:D] [;)] , if you guys can't decide before speed racer Ed and his pit crew depart for fontana, driving the "secret-sponsored" racecar, we will take the money with us and use it for our food and lodging! [:p] [;)] [:D]

... i don't really care where to go myself, just figure it out and i'll be there, not wed-sat of next week though.

Please god, don't try this voting crap. First of all, there's not enough to get a quorum let alone a majority. Second, this is already taking too long. If you want this to happen this week. Make the decision and start making the arrangements cuz no restaurant likes last minute scrambles.

I don't advise Nola's either since parking is a bitch up and down University and all through that area, especially since everyone likes to park in a bunch like grapes.

If Ken doesn't mind driving down to Dave and Buster's that's fine. Apparently there's no interest in Pyramid Alehouse. Other than that, the only one that seems remotely in the running is Steelhead. The normal fear of San Francisco also seems to be present so Gordon Biersch is out. The one in PA is also has the same crappy parking.

Since everyone here seems to have plenty of opinion but zero conviction, let's just call it and be done with it. This discussion is going nowhere fast and the threadjacking has already begun (see "Ken's Pit Crew" above).

Finally, what say we start a new thread to clear out these meandering inane posts and get to business. It's already starting to look like herding freakin' cats, and damn indecisive non-commital ones at that [rolleyes]

lets go to D&B's

and I apologize for the thread jacking

Sheesh Curtis, such chagrin! But hey, way to grab the bull by the balls and run with it. Them "damn indecisive non-commital" youngins have yet to mature into the decisive committal take-charge man you have become. [;)]

Hope to see everyone there, to bask in the Mazda Extreme Street Car Show win!
