OMFG........i have just found an advert in my local autotrader and there is a guy who is selling a B5 2.7 with both turbos for £1250....it must be one of the first batch at that price but still must be good for some parts....dont know current exchange rate but i would guess its about $2500....i dont even have to ask you guys if its worth it or not....what i need to know is how i can check the turbo`s condition when everything is on this guys garage floor.????
Will i have to take one apart ....what am i looking for...got any links to tech articles or any help would be appreciated as i`m know this will be gone pretty soon.....

"A used Audi S4 bi-turbo engine complete. The engine is missing the two front plastic timing covers and the alternator belt and one intercooler pipe, has a holding bracket missing. Other parts with this engine include air box and air mass meter and complete engine wiring loom with matching ecu. The fly by wire throttle pedal assembly together with the steering column, ignition barrel and key. The speedometer cluster is also included. This will make a fantastic engine conversion for any Audi or just a standard replacement for a blown engine. The clutch and flywheel are with the engine but the gear box is sold. If you have any questions or need any more photos please email us. Bid in confidence just look at our feedback!!!!!! "
Come on guys this is no bullsh*t...anyone interested??

I wouldn't say that $2500 for a B5 S4 motor is a steal; that's about average assuming it's a 00+ with not too many miles. I think in Europe the B5 S4 has been out since something like 1997? Not sure about the UK specifically though.
To check the turbos, it's real easy: You stick your fingers in each and try spinning the compressor wheels by hand. They should spin freely. There should not be a lot of shaft play. No tools needed. =)
Hope this helps.

that would cost some $$$ to ship it to the US too...Ship I guess, airfreight would probably cost as much as the engine itself
Damn i want that engine so bad, can't find one here.

Hey guys what about sea freight...i know it takes 6 weeks but it would`nt cost nowhere near as much as airfreight...
DRA4 if u are seriously interested in this, PM me and i will give u more details. The guy also has other stuff for sale too ..Sat Nav etc..
Im having a look at it tommorow with my friends uncle (who is mechanic at Lancaster Audi, our biggest Audi dealership....[:D] ) and if its fine i`m gonna buy it anyways because i know its worth it. I would be prepared to go to the trouble of getting shipping quotes for you etc...let me know. Glad to help another AZer...
Danny
