Im thinking of setting one up here in Albany, NY to raise money for the childrens hospital at Albany Med. If you are interested please respond. I think it will be a great time for everyone to get to know eachother, talk cars, and most of all, help out those in need. If anyone has ever ran one, please reply w/ info. of what needs to be done. Thanks guys.

Ill take the ride up. Maybe ECmotorwerks should have some raffles. The proceeds go to charity and we win parts. Sounds good to me. Either way anything to help out.

Other ideas that people had were do a drag day at the Speedway about 45min from albany in New Lebannon. If i were to do a raffle for prizes, what sorts of prizes should i have?

Nothing to crazy, small things like BPV, Cone filter, stuff like that. Mayeb one big prize, you dont wanna put yourself out to much. Then again you can write it all off for taxes if it is sponsered by your company.

Maybe towards the end of august. Make it a end of summer thing. And gives people time to clear their schedule.

legal issues, yes there r too many to list, but first make sure u are registered with the state as a professianl fund raiser, especially if u are goin to touch any money, u need to fill out a form to become an official 501 c 3. the state must register u and then u can reachout to people to donate and or buy raffle tickets or whatever it is that u want to do.. unless u r a no profit organization and or if u work hand in hand with one, then u can get away with saying u r a professional fund raising council. just managing and tellign the non profit what to do.

sounds good, I just moved out of the Albany area but am only 2hrs away and still have a ton of friends there (including a couple A4 owners).
Late Aug early September would be fine, actually early Sept would be better, I have a friend that will be back in town then(when school starts) with a pretty nice silver 2000 he just bought.
p.s. good idea ;-)

I bet if you contact the childrens hospital with the idea and run it through them you won't have to worry about registering with the state as I'm sure they've got all that type of paperwork done already. Just tell them you'd like to do this. They probably even have someone to work out details with for doing a fundraiser like this, most children's hospitals do.
