do u think it would look good or really bad, i know all jeeps ive seen are built up to climb rocks and such but why not put a jeep on the ground?

RippleChip

No. Jeeps are meant to have clearance, not a fan of trucks/etc that are slammed when their purpose is to go over stuff.

well i found one on google heres a pic, i do think that the wheels are ugly and so are the tail covers, but if u were to chop the top of the jeep it would look nice http://img39.photobucket.com/albums/v121/jademonkey/94jeep.jpg

For the same reasons you don't jack up a Ferrari. What's the point?

It is just a pet peeve of mine, one I am sure everybody is tired of hearing.

PUKE! Oh man, sweet shit. That hidious! What the hell were they thinking?

I have seen a newer 02-04 blue jeep grand cherokee slightly lowered, 1-2" on 19" chrome rims. It looked good. But it wasn't slammed. Totally defeats the purpose of having a jeep.

Good work FOO. Our prerunner talk got out of hand. Serious hijacking. [:p]

I still say lift the Jeep. Putting some decent rims is ok, just don't lower it.

CJ's got it right. Keep the Jeep up, if you plan on doing suspension raise it, don't lower.

If you slam a Jeep you are going to get laughed off the road!!! They just look dumb when they are lowered!!! They are ment to be built big and BAD!! Oh I have some great pictures of what Jeeps are supposed to look like, too bad I only have them in hard copy form and dont have a scanner.[:(]

i know thier sposta be big and bad, but honestly i would never need that, so i think im just gonna leave the suspension, and tint the windows and then just leave it, spend the money on my audi[:D]

HMM, a ZJ huh? Well you have a couple of options:

1) there are mild (3") lift kits available for them. Even though you said you dont really need to go huge, this lift will change the appearance of you truck and it wont really affect the ride quality. Actually, lift kits for coil sprung Jeeps tend to make the ride quality better! Stock Jeep coils are crap and when you replace them with coil that have some engineering behind them you get a much better ride! I had a friend who lifted his ZJ with this lift, and it turned out really nice! Go to www.rubiconexpress.com. They make some of the best lifts.

2) If you want to go REALLY cheap you could also just get a spacer lift for it. This is a rubber hockey puck shaped thing that you put in between your spring and your upper spring cup. I think they are available in 3/4" and 2". All four spacers will run you about 60-100 USD. This will do nothing to enhance your ride quality but will give you a more aggressive look, especially when paired with larger tires.

One good thing about modding a Jeep is that it is much more inexpensive compared to modding these european cars. Let me know if you want to know anything else.

can i elect this to be the worthless thread of the year? worst idea evar! that chopped top jeep looks like a shitty version of a Dodge Magnum.... the Magnum doesnt look like ass though.

like id like to lift my jeep, but i know id never need the clearance, so itd be a waste of money just so that my car looks better, i think im just gonna leave the suspenion alone, if anything maybe get like some 20 inch rims, and do stuff on the inside, or jsut save all the money and put it into my future or something

Now, not to be an ass or anything, but I see from your sig that you have an aftermarket front bumper. This bumper does nothing but enhances the look of your car. How do you justify spending money on one visual enhancment but not another?

canadian_driver
07-26-2004, 12:00 PM
but a lift kit is ment to do something, its ment to be used, not jsut looked at, and also a lift kit costs a few thousand dollars while my bumper cost a few hundred

uhh. looks like an older volvo station wagon (which is sick)

I know this is a dead issue now, but I feel you have been misinformed about the cost of Jeep suspension upgrades. The Rubicon Express 3.5" lift for your Jeep is $659. You will spend more on dubs than you will for the lift.

Canadian_Driver,, you can do a cheap 2 inch lift and fit some 31s under it for around 400. You can do a body lift if you just want look for even cheaper. But how can you own a Jeep and not want to go see what it can do? Anyway heres a good Jeep parts site.

Chris, he has a Grand with a unibody construction. It has no real frame, it built into the body. Therefore, he cannot do a body lift.
Here is another good aftermarket jeep parts supplier.
