Im bringing my car out to AZ from NJ and wanted to see what weight oil you guys use in the heat out there. Im definetly puttin in synthetic just wanted to see what everyone was running. Also you guys know of any reputable inexpensive oil change places in the tempe/scottsdale area.. Thanks
I'm over here in Florida where the heat is just as bad, if not worse because of humidity. My friend at Audi, who now owns his Audi/VW specialist shop, recommended I use Mobil 1 15w50. I started using it about 15k miles ago w/large filter, you can't really tell the difference all that much, but since it's so hot out here, the engine is under a lot more stress because of the heat, which is where the oil weight comes in, and it's full synthetic. I get it from Walmart, they seem to be the cheapest, $15 for one of those 5qt container.
You can also check Mobil 1's (http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lubes/PDS/NAUSENPVLMOMobil1_15W-50.asp#SpecsApprovalsTitle) website. It doesn't say on there anymore, but it was approved for VW 502.00
Anyways, that's what I use, others may be diff...
