im hearing 3590 lbs, and now i hear 3807.
if the car weighs over 3600 lbs, my order on the S5 will be cancelled.

Because then it won't out perform the m3?

Can there be another thread tomorrow about, "Will the S5 be able to make my coffee in the morning?"

I hear you Cass. The car is going to be great. People can't push the car to it's limits in normal driving anyway. By the way, I think 3807 is the weight with the driver and mag publications have the car accelerating from 0-60 between 4.5-5.1 seconds. That is more then fast enough. They are also impressed with it's handling. If you are so concerned about weight and whether or not it will perform like the M3 for less money and a fraction of seconds maybe the S5 is not for you. The S5 is going to be a total package inside and out, can't wait till my friend gets his from ED. The S5 will be exclusive, priced between the M3 and 335i. Peace

Audi isn't trying to produce a race car here as mentioned. They make outstanding, comfortable, and extremely well designed automobiles with fun and every day driving in mind.
If what you are looking for is to compete with Vin Diesel, you may be looking at the wrong car or even wrong Automobile manufacturer.
Myself, I definitely wouldn't let the size of brakes and weight detour me from the S5 or Audi for that matter.

but here's the problem
i am postponing my purchase of a 996 GT2 for this car...
i still want to have fun with it, and i refuse to buy a bmw ...

i was just hoping audi would really step up , and now im reading 58:42 weight balance...

LOL. Then get the Porsche or wait for RS5 and even that won't compete.

Peace

It's comparing apples to oranges.
It's not like the S5's market value is going to go up after you buy it, you are going to LOSE money, putting you further away from owning a GT2. So why not be happy and get the GT2 instead?

Why the superiority complex? Do you drive around all day looking for other people to race?

If so, Audi is not for you.

agree. I don't like to bash people for asking questions, but going fast on the street is stupid. If you do trackdays that is a different story. The S5 is a Luxury street car, and it does a great job of doing just that.

If you want to really have fun then go buy a $5k used spec miata racecar for trackdays. It will make you a better driver, and well piloted it will lap faster than a Viper.

Since you seem to have money to throw away(figure of speech) i have a project for you:
get a S5 3.0T(supercharged)
swap in a 2.7T and see what you can produced.
i would love to run into you one day seeing as you in NYC.
