Howdy guys and garls, glad to see some nice site about the audi classic section.
I have some weird scenario with my 86 Coupe and i don't think the car likes me at all as several months ago, i got rear-ended, got the car back a month later from the body shop. Car ran great.
Then i had to replace my clutch then my alternator, new battery and this week end, i have replaced my water pump as i thought my water pump was going as the sound of a squeal sounded like a bad water pump. Well...
Once the WP was replaced, i took the cooling tank cap's off and let the car run so that i can remove the air pocket and the odd sound of a bad water pump was still there. It couldn't be my power steering pump as it would of been louder. As i started to rev up the engine so that the motor could heat up faster, i noticed oil dripping from the bottom seal. is my engine gone?[headbang]
My question is, would it be better to replace the engine or simply replace the bearing and seal "front and rear"?
I do have 2 spare motors on my yard and both of them are 2.3 liters engine. One off a special build Coupe 87.5 and the other from a 5ks 84 sedan.
I have spent a lot of money on that car, but the fact that the car ain't in great shape "body" i am looking to get another body in good condition and swap everything over to the new body. i'll be without a car for a while, but i think it would be worth a project.[=(]
