Hey ever since I learned of the crazy potential of the 2.3 5cyl Ive wanted a CQ as a project... Well I found one for $300 about 3 hours away from me... It needs

Bumper - (Going to be replaced with RS4 components [:D])

Caliper - Can these be found for cheap?

Fan - Im guessing radiator fan are these cheap also?

Other then that just a rear brake job (easy) and some little things... its got 154k on it what do you guys think?

Are you looking for larger aftermarket calipers or OEM G60 calipers? I might be replacing my G60's with a BBK.

Ummm yea Im looking for OEMs! How much? And what BBK are you getting some porsche stuff would be nice...

Anyway to the 20VT guys how much would it cost me to turn my motor into a 20VT?

You know, assuming the engine is good, I would also consider just getting it running, and then when the engine breaks down move forward with your upgrade plans.

My S4 is in running condition, but the tranny is bunk. so first on that list is B5S4 tranny...then when the engine gives, i'm going to upgrade that.

W/ the CQ, 400hp is not out of the question, but be preparred to do some serious work. sad to say my CQ may never see the turbo upgrade because our smog laws in Cali are too damn strict. On the plus side, there are benefits of keeping your CQ engine "stock" as there are many enthusiasts and purists out there that insist on keeping it in "original" condition.

About the same price as gettin a 20vt already complete with ecu and harness.......

^^ sweet. Like i said, tons of hassle here in Cali, my mentality is to drive it into the ground before upgrading the engine. who knows by then i might want a different car, and it will be money saved in my opinion. besides i already have a 20VT i can play with heheheheeh so that makes the decision easier for me to keep the CQ stock [up]

Actually, not that hard to get the 20Vt in a coupe, smogged in CA. If you use the 3b motor from the 91 200, and get the intake box and track from a 3b S2, you can get the car CARBed. You go to a ref, and they will inspect the car, you tell them what year motor you used, they will smog check the car for year it was made, and they will sign off on the car. Then you have a smog legal 20Vt Coupe in CA. After that you can go a little nuts on the horsepower, but as long as you keep it stock looking, you won't have any trouble.

Nicobaires & AudiA4_18T

A friend and I pulled a 92 UrS4 engine/tranny/drivetrain this weekend.

Difficulty Depends if you have the engine already (loose, say purchased separately), or if you have a "donor" car and you are "keeping" the donor car.

In this example, my friend had a 92 UrS4. He wanted the engine/tranny/drivetrain for his 90CQ AAN Swap.

Essentially, i got "the rest of the car" to use any parts for the better of my 93S4. Everything else, for lack of a better term, was scrapped. (I DID keep some key parts though)

That being said, removal of the old engine was systematic only in a sense that we:

1. removed front end and disconnected all hoses/connectors
2. dropped the exhaust as 1 piece.
3. dropped the front suspension and subframe as 1 piece from front.
4. dropped the engine/tranny/axles as 1 piece from front.
5. dropped the rear diff/subframe/suspension as 1 piece from the back.

Pictures can be found on this thread, it will be obvious what i'm talkin about:

Let me know if you have questions.

PS: interestingly enough the "messiest" part was getting the ECU harness out of the donor car. He literally used a sawzall and wrecking bar to get at the harness piece that extends from the ECU side to the dash...it's just really tucked in there and if you haven't done it before you only have so much patience trying to "finesse" it out. All the harnesses are taped together and it's a mess. See pics.... you'll know what i mean.

LOL.
