So, I started off yesterday (Saturday) around 11am for Waterfest. It's only a 2 hour drive or 120 miles. I gave myself 3 hours to get there, so no rush. I got on I-95 in Maryland just below the Delaware State line and hit the worst traffic I have been in in a long time.....took me 2 hours to go 15 miles [=(] [headbang] I was so frustrated and full of road rage I turned around at the next available exit and went home. Traffic was backed up as far as I could see ahead, apparently a mix of road work and an accident way ahead of where I was.
So I got home and chilled out, had a beer, worked on detailing my car a little more. I figured I'll just go Sunday since some friends were going anyway. So...this morning I picked up a buddy around 930 am and we set out, taking a different route this time. We got about 30 minutes from the show when all of the sudden I smell oil burning and see blue smoke rolling from under my hood. We're on the PA Turnpike. Pull over and pop the hood......WTF! My cam chain tensioner that was just replaced on Thursday had a little part missing off the end and oil was spewing out of the hole (right onto the catalytic converter). I knew at that point we weren't making the show and would be lucky to get the car home for that matter. My buddy is pretty ingenius and took a piece of rubber tire tubing lying by the road and some zip ties (NEVER travel without them) from my trunk and rigged a cover. We also stuffed a rag underneath. We took a business route home in case we needed to stop for oil. Only lost about 1/4 quart of oil on the return trip. I've got to call ECS tuning on Monday and see about warranty on that part ($600 part plus labor I spent).
I'm pretty depressed about the whole thing. [headbang]
