I've decided to keep the 99.5 2.8 for at least two more years, possibly four. I'm sure that with preventative care the ride can make it to 200K. If I do this, I should be in a great position to land a 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 when I turn 30 in four more years.

Or do a 2004 S4 next year, but I would hate to devalue the S4 as my daily driver. Figured that I would put some mods into the A4 and extend its life until there is no more.

I can see it now - everyone at work sees me driving an A4 with 200K on it. I'll be smiling knowing that my Porsche is just waiting for me to get home................

Good luck sir. I wish I could stick with such a plan but I am all about instant gratification. I will be honest though, a 911 TT (993 body) has really been tempting me lately. May be I will be able to hold out and buy one if it is under the $50K range in a couple of years [:(]

I wish......... They are still in the 60s with about 12K miles on them. I'm guessing that a 98 C4 could go for low 40s with about 20K miles.

Lots of money, but the look is timeless, so no need to go brand new. Plus, I would have to sell some organs to get a new one.

I saw a '99 C4 three months ago with 40k on it for $46K. In four years I'm thinking it'll be a little lower.[:D]

You just need to buy one privately. Most 996s do not hold its value well in the private market except for the Turbo, GT2, and GT3. I have seen some mid milage 996s going for low $40s and high $30s which is very affordable for a Porsche. C4 will cost you a bit more but the prices should come down even more when the 997 will begin sales soon.

Yep - your logic is dead on. However, the pricing quotes given here were for a C4 with 12K miles - very different then 40K.

In four years, a C4 with 20K miles will still top 40K.
