Well I've had my S4 for over a year now. I finally chipped it and added a MBC. That made a huge difference (Still running stock turbo's) None the less I've never really taken her out to see what she could do. I'm not into racing, or taking it to the track. That is appealing, but to me that just will add up to $$$$ in repairs and upgrades if I start taking her to the track. But I still love the power and have a lot of fun with her.

Anyway. I was with a buddy and we found a straight stretch, started from 0 and took off, 100, 110, 120, 130 (thought it would cut out then, but the 130 cut off must of been disabled when chipped) 140, then at 145 a corner was approaching so I let off.

So currently my top speed is 145 but I tell you she had more. I know I could of easily hit 150 and maybe 160, but the RPM's were getting up there, about 5500, still under red line but it would no doubt be over 6000 if hitting 160. I couldnt believe it.

I know I've seen video's of S4's going over 160-170 but thought that was with stage 3 and just didnt think mine was capable. I dont plan on doing this on regular basis, but I have to honestly say that is the fastest I have ever been in a car.

I wouldnt go by any speedo for a accurate mph after 135mph most speedos can be off by 6-10% at real high speeds the higher the speedo reads the more inaccurate they become... Uh no, not sure where you heard that. Thats a pretty well known fact that speedos are off by a larger margin as the speed increases. I was simply making sure generation knew there were tick marks past the 1760mph,some people dont notice. As in this thread, im pretty sure people are reading there speed from the SPEEDO, not the handheld gps in there lap.

What you say about speedos being off at higher speeds is very true. I figure my speedo is pretty close to accurate though because of a test I do about every week. There is a straight area of road w/ one of those cop signs that tells you your speed, and i go exactly 110mph according to the speedo to see how accurate it is. At 110 on the speedo, it says 109-111 everytime. So i figure only 60mph more it can't be that far off.

What is everyones top speed?[drive] I have been ticketed over 120MPH (have this ticket in a frame, felony speeding and got most of the charges tossed) in my 996C4 and have seen about 176-9MPH (I was not exactly focused on the speedometer) on a back road in my 996TT on a Washington State Indian reservation (boy am I lucky I did not get caught there).


Of course anybody who has driven at those speeds knows that for every mile per hour faster you go above 150 it feels like you are going twice the speed [eek]. It take concrete encased nuts to press that gas pedal to go beyond the 160mph point.[eek].

Hopefully you're joking about having the "balls" to run from the cops. You guys must all be 18 yrs. old, because you have no concept of what the consequences of running from the cops are, or even travelling at those speeds on a public road:

1. Wreck = die or hurt
2. Wreck = kill or hurt someone else
3. Wreck = no more car
4. Caught = misdemeanor or felony, likely jail time depending on speed
5. Caught = no more insurance for you, or incredibly high rates
6. Get away = big giant balls

I get that we're all just kidding around, and that it's cool to have a car that's as fast or faster than many ferraris, porsches, and most american muscle cars.

I remember how cool it was to smoke the tires on my Z in high school, and slide around corners ( they call that drifting now).

If you want to go that fast, go to a track where the surface is designed for those speeds, and you signficantly reduce your chances of hurting someone.

Top speed for me is 135 mph. I'm chipped, so I could go faster, but there really aren't many long straights around here without traffic or police. It's a scary experience even going 135 on a 2 lane road.

Top speed I've gone in a car is around 190 mph on a track, but that's a whole different world from public roads, especially bumpy 2-laners.

thats an MRC car and I think its a bit more than RS6K04's. Correct me if im wrong though. It also has a loner sixth gear that you can purchase from MRC. The 01E in stock form cannot make 202 mph. the gears are just too short

^^^ a few up. MRC tuning sells a longer 6th gear capable of reaching 200+. Otherwise, its not possible because of gearing

Maxed out the speedo in my old benz 500 (Only actually doing about 145, planted)
Got to fuel cutoff on my chipped jeep cherokee (128mph, more stable than you would think)
Passed a trooper at about 93mph in the jeep (stomach sank), if he was sleeping I woke him up with 3" pipe.
Only pushed the s4 up to 130 on the test drive. Lots of PM to do before I can drive it hard without worry.

I do not condone this behavior. Especially with other people in your car.

couple months ago i buried the speedo and was still pulling , i believe it was around 180+

same here. I would say in the 170's range though
